Giants letting Nicks walk!

It's not just the age, but the toll in which his injuries take upon his body. Especially knee, and foot problems, which he has a history with. There is a long list of guys who have had their careers cut short early because of injuries, all players know this very well.

Hopefully that makes it less likely he gets offered the monster.

No matter what I hope we look to the draft (preferably 2nd rd). I just think we need a vet, whether or not it's Nicks, or we are going to have a drop off in production.

I agree we need a vet, but more than that, we need one who we can expect to see the field consistently. It's a big question mark with Nicks.

@RapSheet: Multiple sources tell me Hakeem Nicks was fined repeatedly for being late to meetings & missing treatment. He battled thru several injuries

@RapSheet: Hakeem Nicks is not the only player to be late & miss treatment. He’s not a bad guy. But in a contract year, this frustrated #Giants.

sounds like a winner with all heart baby!!!!

I'm not even reading all that drivel. I stopped at nice guys. Poor attempt at making this somehow about us only signing choir boys, which just isn't true. This is about acquiring players who have proven they can stay healthy, are a good teammates. He doesn't fall under that.

but you read and trust the little write up that a idiot would use to sum of a player over several years? he did much for the team that has thrown him under the bus. he's done more injured than some of our healthy wrs. don't speak of injuries because look at Hixon, T.Davis, Beason, Stewart.... yes we only sign nice guys because what "bad ones" have we signed? give me 5 over the last 10 years that were relevant? Tell that crap the the Pats and blount! We're at home today, they're not! At the end of the day, what is done on the field matters first THEN their character. If we were patient with our injury prone team over the last 7 years we should be smart enough to create the right contracts where that doesn't matter. Carolina knows talent but they lack seizing the moment of real key players in FA.

Like I said in the gameday thread, we should be targeting Decker not Nicks.

RESPECT! we need relevant player threw FA! That's the bottom line. We can't say what one will do before it happens but we certainly know what we lacked last season. Developing a rookie with our likely pick number (2nd) will not give us what a proven vet will!

Yeah, true.

I just hope we cut D-Will and Godfrey, and I few of our other players take a pay cut (Johnson, Stewart, Kalil, etc) in order to extend Cam and re-sign guys like Mitchell, Ginn, Gross, and Hardy. It's a damn tall order but Gettleman did some very encouraging things last off-season.

I think it's the ideal solution. Sign a good veteran and draft a young gun to develop behind him.

I don't agree with cutting Deangelo, he's done what he can to live up to that contract. Shore up the OL. It's Stewart who is crippling our cap right now. I don't know about those taking a pay cut, it's possible, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Gettleman has his work cut out for him.
