He wouldn't be here, in my opinion, unless the coaches saw potential in his ability. I think we'll draft another TE, but it won't be a pass catching exclusive one. It'll likely be a more blocking centric one. Williams might be the Gary Barnidge or Dante Rosario type that comes in on passing downs if he can get his act together there.

We never really saw him play enough this year to get a good feeling to see if TE Brandon Williams had top grade talent. I also heard or read very little about him.

Yes, Brandon Williams is the answer at #2 TE. The issue though is that Mike Shula is not the answer at OC, as he so seldom used two TE sets or any other personnel groupings designed to move the ball far down field.

I think he'll be here thru the duration of his contract unless he simply falls on his sword somewhere along the line.

Who knows, because we haven't seen enough, the coaches must see something in him though. Two things to give you hope

 

1. He got into the game and ran some routes against San Fran for the first time I can remember

2. Former B-ball players Lance Thomas and Jordan Cameron didn't have a impact until a couples years after being in the league

I hope that we see more of him during OTA's and in the Preseason games. I think that he can be good if not great for us...
