Movie Trailers from the 70s

"Battle Beyond The Stars" was essentially "Star Wars" meets The Magnificant Seven"

(or "The Seven Samurai" if you prefer)

I remember another great Star Wars rip off called "Star Crash".  Worth watching mostly because caroline Munro spends the entire movie walking around in a series of skimpy outfits that would make no sense for someone in space (but hey, no one cared).

The Car LOL my dad took me to see it

Thanks to my brother, I almost saw "the Car" at age ten on a double bill with "the Sentinel".  It didn't happen because there was a power outage at the theater.

Now that I've seen "The Sentinel" I gotta say that would have been quite a movie experience for a ten year old boy

Same brother took me to see "Jaws" that year,  Scared me out of the ocean for most of my life.

(my brother wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer at that age)

First time I saw "Jaws" was in the Navy on an old post-WWII destroyer, we were out at sea in a storm watching the movie down on the mess deck... lol... the USS Agerholm (DD-826):

these are great old school trailers.

lol@jangler seeing KFM at 11. wow

No joke. I remember back when trailers would be shown for ANY kind of movie. I was with my cousins to see a Pink Panther, maybe 1975 and an Emanuelle trailer came on. we were transfixed. lol

The 70s was good for TV movies too.

"Trilogy of Terror" was best remembered for the creepy little doll.  There was a made for cable sequel that featured the same doll, but it was nowhere near as good.

There was also "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark" which Guillermo Del Toro remade for the big screen.  Del Toro and that movie should have made a great combo, but somehow it just didn't work.

i also remember waiting to see some sci fi movie, maybe a sinbad flick and The Shining trailer came on. i was not prepared to see that.

it rocked me so much that for a couple of years, yes years, i would go to the movies and wait in the lobby until the trailers were over. an usher would come over and go ok kid. you can go in now. my buddies were like dude you are strange.

I remember seeing posters and previews for a piece of dreck called "Revenge of the Cheerleaders" (starring a young Hasselhoff),  It resulted in me asking my mom some questions she didn't want to answer.
