Movie Trailers from the 70s

Call me old, but in my opinion today's movie trailers pretty much all just look like music videos.  Throw in some random clips, insert a little background music from a song that may or may not e in the movie, and boom, you've got a trailer.  And most of them look like any other.

 

The trailers for movies back in the 70s though?  They were hysterically over the top, especially the ones for horror and sci-fi movies.  Every movie was hyped like it was the greatest story ever set to film.

I tuned in to that movie late one night without knowing what it was about.

 

At first I was like "What the he!! is this?" but I kept watching.

 

By movie's end I was laughing my head off.

...and the there's one of the original all-time scariest flicks ever for it's time. Saw this premier in Hollywood, the side of the theater had the second floor window replicated, complete with the drapes blowing out and the shadowed light...

Thread got me thinking - this is not a trailer, its a scene from a movie shot right near where I grew up. Pretty freaky to see it now.
