E-cigs

Im sure there has been a thread on this, but what do you guys think about them?

I have been using the Blu e-cig for about a week or two now. It definitely cures my brain's craving of nicotine, but my body still want the thick, yummy, tasty smoke feel and taste. I have been smoking it since Sunday after the Panthers lost. I started the week of the playoffs, but made the big jump to strictly the Blu e-cig the day after the game.

Anybody else trying these?

Cold Turkey. Man up... No artificial poo. I quit smoking 5 years ago. I went cold turkey, just said fug it, I'm strong enough. 5 years now passed and I still crave cigarettes. I usually smoke a cigar once in a while. That's it. First 2 weeks are the worst after that u can manage the craving. Occupy ur brains with something else and don't think about it. It's all in ur head.

Yeah OP, i definitely know the feeling. Those blu ecigs are p*ssy poo.

I have an ego-C, which for me, has been extremely efficient in curing my craving for cigarettes. Plus, the starter kit is around $70, and the juice around $15. All you need to do is replace the atomizer head once a month, and buy a new bottle of juice. (total circa $20 a month). That's the cost of 3-4 packs of cigarettes a month. Definitely a good option.

Long term, quitting would be good, but these are an alternative that can help you quit. Just lower the dosage of nicotine in the juice as you progress, and then quitting shouldnt be as hard.

It sounds like I have something like what Swan is talking about, but I have only heard it called a vape.  There are several kinds of set ups for them.  Mine has a bottom coil clearomizer and variable voltage battery.  You can adjust it to get the hit as intense as you want.  Regardless of the setup you choose for them, they are better than the gas station variety (blu, mystic, etc), and WAY better than smoking actual cigs.

I quit smoking 7 months ago using the ego V battery...My juice supplier fuged me and quit carrying my poo now I'm having a difficult time finding a flavor I like.

he won't let you sample them?  my vape store does.  they are set up like a bar, and have caddys with tons of tips with different flavors to try.  so you just sit down for a bit and figure it out.

I have two itaste svd's with 5.5ml clearomizer tanks that use bottom coil wicks with variable voltage and variable wattage.

You have to buy everything separately and it definitely cost more, but I've used a ton of different brands and different types of e-cigs and vapor products and it's the smoothest hardest hit that I've found.

If your interested in getting something that hits better and don't mind spending the money you can get them at most vapor stores.

The coils are around 2 - 2.50 each and juice will run about 10-15 dollars, you'll spend around 20-30 a month after the initial cost.

the itaste svd is around 70 dollars

the 5.5ml tank is around 14 dollars

The batteries are around 10 dollars

The wall charger is around 10 dollars.

All together the first time you go in counting juice and an extra coil, you'll spend 120 dollars. It's well worth it though.

Also for those looking at flavors and want to stay close to the ciggerette taste, there are a few brands like hangsen at madvapes that have good flavor.

My favorite flavor is called Kat Blood though. It's a mix featuring orange blood and a few other flavors.

Cities and government officials want to shut down e-cigs and vapor products though because they are loosing tax money from smokers quitting. Look for it to soon have the same type of taxes applied to it as cigarettes and the prices skyrocket.

NYC has already banned them in non smoking areas and are looking to tax them like cigarettes.

Man, anyone who has used a non-gas station PV will tell you those Blus, NJoys and other cig-a-likes are awful compared to the real personal vaporizers.

I have been vaping for 10 months. Started out with an Ego-C and "Stardust"-type clearomizer; what you'll get from a typical starter kit. Those clearomizers sucked. I've tried about every clearomizer on the market--top coil, bottom coil, dual coil--and have come to appreciate the Kanger Protank II. My devices have also evolved from the Ego-C to a Vision Spinner and I'm currently using a VAMO and Zmax. For your first battery, an Ego-C is not a bad route to go. A 1000mah (so it will last longer) C battery should be about 15 bucks from a reputable vendor. It's also really low maintenance and hassle-free.

Maybe you could even go with an Ego-C Twist or Vision Spinner. These are "variable voltage" batteries and allow you to customize your vape as different juices perform better or worse at different wattage. The regular Ego-C operates at a set voltage of 3.7v and decreases as the battery loses its voltage. Beyond that there are much more advanced (and expensive) variable voltage/variable wattage devices but you probably shouldn't mess with those unless you have a strong grasp of Ohm's Law or you're a more experienced vaper.

So, once you've picked out a battery, you need to decided on a juice-delivery system and here you also have options. There are clearomizers, cartomizers and rebuildable atomizers. For convenience, clearomizers are the way to go. They will hold 1.5ml of juice on the small end all the way up to about 5 or 6ml on the larger end. That just means you won't have to refill as often. With cartomizers and dripping atomizers, you have to constantly saturate the polyfill, cotton, mesh or other material. We're talking 5-6 drops, maybe 10 drags if you're lucky then rinse and repeat. But with cartomizers and dripping attys, many claim they produce the purest taste of the juice you're using. Clearomizers use, in most cases, a silica wick to draw the e-juice to the coil and the silica can have a tendency to mute the juice flavors. It's a matter of determining that is important to you and going from there. Some cartomizers are supposed to be disposable and some are rebuildable. The same with clearomizers. The "stardust" type i referred to earlier are disposable. They're like 4 bucks each, you use it til the coil goes bad and toss it. That could be two weeks, could be a month depending on use and how it's cared for. My Protank II is a 2.5ml bottom-coil (gravity fed) tank and is rebuildable. I don't even buy the replacement heads anymore because I've learned to re-wick and rebuild the coils myself, a huge money-saver in the long run.

Finally, you have the juice. If you thought you had options when it came to batteries and tanks, you ain't seen nothin' yet. There are juice vendors that manufacture juice in any flavor you could imagine, and at any price point. In terms of a good mix between quality and economy, Mount Baker Vapor is regarded as one of the best. A 50ml bottle from them is about 12 bucks. Then there are vendors like Vapor Chef who'll charge 20 bucks for a 15ml bottle. But his juices are like ermagerd amazing. For someone who vapes as constantly as I do, it's not an economically viable option though. I'd blow thru 15ml in 3-4 days easy. 50ml bottles last me 2 weeks or more. But tobacco flavors, fruit flavors, drink flavors, candy flavors, menthol flavors, bakery flavors--you'll find 'em all. It's truly a matter of trial and error. I've easily tried 30 different juices before settling on the ones I use regularly. Once you've picked a flavor you like or might like, you'll see options to adjust the PG/VG levels and nic levels. PG stands for propylene glycol and VG stands for vegetable glycerin. They're the two bases used in almost every flavor. They're usually pharmaceutical grade (though I can't speak for the Chinese juices) and are safe for human consumption. More VG = more vapor production and more PG = more flavor. So, a 50/50 mix is a very common choice among vapers. Again, trial and error and personal preference are the name of the game. My next project is going to be learning to make DIY e-juice.

Sorry for the wall-o-text, this is just a topic I'm passionate about and I feel like I left out so much other information. It's also something of a hobby now. Trust me, you can spend as much money as your budget will allow for on devices, tanks, juices and accessories. I think vaping will help extend not only my life, but my step-mom's, my mom's, my best friend's and my former roommate's. That, to me, is damn awesome. Remember, it's not the nicotine that kills you, it's the tar. There's no evidence that tar is a byproduct of vaporizing e-juice.

Are you local to Charlotte? If so I can give you a list of some very reputable vendors in the area. If not, I can also direct you to some great online resources.

how interchangeable are the atomizers/clearomizers?   will i have to stick with the same brand as the battery, or do they all pretty much work across brands?
