Speculation on Hardy's Future (NFL.com)

Have to disagree on that. There are options. Getting absolutely nothing is not one of them.

I'd say right now it's a fair shot of 50/50 that he just walks out the door and we get nothing for him.  now unlike Peppers he seems to actually want to stay here but we are in Cap hell, as someone else in here stated already us using the tag on him may not even be an option, we can't do anything that might cause more dead money on this team, we just straight up can't.

You said it best you don't know what you are talking about...

A franchise tag is a one year guaranteed salary deal no prorated bonus money ect...

Trading the player would immediately transfer this guaranteed salary to the acquiring team...

There is no cap hit for the trading team because unlike ex. Beason there will be no already paid cap pro rated bonus money on the books.

I think you're wrong here. I originally thought this then found out that the CBA out in place after Jared Allen's 2008 deal changes the way it impacts team's cap which franchises him. Meaning we take a dead money hit even in the event of a trade.

Not to mention if we aren't able to trade him how that cap hit will handcuff us.

And no reason to come off so cocky. You're just as much an "expert" as I am there chief.

If hardy loves it so much in Charlotte as much as he says then he will get paid hardly anything his first year and help us out with huge pay days later on down the line so he recoups money, but I doubt he will do and nor would I expect him too and will end up on some team that does nothing like the raiders

I don't disagree, 50/50 sounds right.

Id love to hear these options.

These options have been gone over repeatedly, I know you've seen them, because you've posted in the threads. Just because you don't personally like these options, doesn't mean they aren't legitimate, or on the table. Who knows what will happen? I'm just expressing my opinion.

exclusive franchise - locked into play for the team. no other offers. top 5 money

non exclusive franchise - he gets top money but can look around for long term deals. 2 1sts is what it says but I think it can be lowered if agreed upon

transition - basically a first right of refusal...

Yeah I've read the options that have been posted, but from what I've seen none of them are fully accurate. It's not about what I agree with, why do you guys have to make everything so personal? Like what I originally posted, these "options" you're speaking of don't seem to be real options.

Can you tell me now franchising and trading him affects out cap?

Iv said it before "PAY THAT MAN". Keep him on the team, but it really is down to keeping him and not being able to improve the team anywhere else, or letting him walk and being able to fill some much needed gaps.

IMO, its a lose lose either way you look at it. The Panthers, CAN NOT WIN in this situation. If Hardy stays, we will undoubtably be giving him a big number, severely reducing the talent we will be able to bring in and we need talent if we want to go further in the playoffs.

If we let Hardy walk, we will be losing one of the BEST young defensive ends in the entire league. Those types of players are not common. So if we let Hardy walk, well now we have to hope and pray, we can find another DE that can perform at a high level. Hardy was a big reason why this teams defense was so f'ing good.

As a fan, id love to keep Hardy. He's an incredible athlete and one hell of a personality, but at the same time, I want to see this team get over that hump. This franchise is back, we will continue to be perennial playoff residents, but Im not satisfied with just getting to the playoffs any more. It was exciting as hell to be there this year, but I want and expect more and if letting Hardy walk will help with that, then thats what the team will have to do.

Maybe im wrong, but this seems to be a situation where we just won't be able to have our cake and eat it too.

We flat out can not afford another high dollar eating DE at this time no matter how much we'd like to be able to.  If we can not tag and trade him ( and I know little to nothing about thw rules here) he is as good as gone to a team that can afford him.  Why would he not make as much money as possible in his prime?

Show me were you have this information because everything I've researched says otherwise.

It's in one of the other many threads on this. Some people were posting about it and defending their claim really well.

As I said...I don't know for sure.

If you're so sure post the research you did that shows the whole cap figure gets wiped from us
