Mel Kiper Jr's first mock draft 1/15/2014

I'm taller than Cooks, this is sad. Why do draft analysts insist on comparing yet to be NFL players to Steve smith on Size alone? Do they not realize that not every small framed wide out will turn out to be like Steve Smith?

Smith is a fairly unique player.

I don't know if that gets recognized as much as it should.

I'm hesitant on Decker.  Peyton Manning's receivers don't tend to look quite the same when he's not throwing to them.

It's like signing a QB from an Andy Reid system.

Decker was balling before Manning with Kyle Orton.  it wasn't until The Golden Calf of Bristol that his (and every other Denver WR's) production fell off. He's not a true number 1, but he puts up 1 numbers a lot especially when defenses are keying on another guy.

Smith is short but he's built like a tank. If you look at his large calf muscles alone you can see his strength. He can throw larger CBs right to the turf and does so on a regular basis. This little Cooks is not a younger Steve Smith, and I seriously doubt he's on our radar for the first round.

Add in the fire inside him.

Steve Smith is arguably one of the most driven individuals to ever play the game.

You don't find that kind of quality easily.

Tavon Austin, DeSean Jackson, Kendall Wright, Jacoby Ford, Randall Cobb, etc etc. I don't believe any of these current guys compare to Steve Smith other than size. There are some good names in here, production wise but toughness, passion and fire like Smith? Do any of these guys actually command a double team like Smith? Then there are the rooks that will come to the league that get their names mentioned next to smith. They are literally watering down his name a presence on the field.

Cooks would be a great pick IF we could get a bigger bodied guy , either in FA or in another round. the guy has some of the best 'highpointing' of a the ball I've seen for a small WR. he looks to fight for the ball aswell. If we could get cooks and Moncrief I'd flip.

wooo racial bias shows up again!

can't wait for bridgewater to show he can "comprehend a huddle."  thanks for that, kiper!

fuging dumbass.

I told people LAST year when the media and fans alike were going on and on about Geno Smith that this year Bridgewater would be the target. Last year Teddy could not be drafted so the media and fans held their fire hoping that he would just stumble and take himself out of the running.

Expect in the next couple of weeks to hear stories with "sources" talking about how Teddy really "struggles with reads" and is "not a leader" and is not "dedicated to the game."

Next year my bet is on Winston or Hundley.

Basically, whoever is a threat to being drafted the highest at that position.

They started with Vince Young, Newton, Smith, Griffin, etc. The only reason why Manuel was not targeted is because he came out of left field.

LoL Keith Van Horn. Never thought I'd see that guys name anywhere ever again.

Speaking of KVH, I remember when Philly brought him in to be a #2 for Iverson. I was a huge Iverson fan and always thought it was a shame they could never get him help in Philly.

Was it you that compared Newton to Lebron in Cleveland recently? I really liked that post. I don't want it to be the same thing with Cam and so far it has been.

I think someone else brought that up on a different thread and I commented on it.

Iverson is my favorite basketball player of all time. If Cam is not as smart as Lebron he'll suffer the same trap as Iverson. Just a one man wrecking crew on a team that's satisfied enough to just make the playoffs. Cam should see what direction the organization is going in the draft before signing on the dotted line. Going 4 drafts without upgrading the offense would be insane and unheard of.

By the way, do you remember the KVH high socks? lol

If Evan, Lee, Watkins and Benjamin are gone, who would that leave us with in the first?

Under these circumstances and ONLY under this circumstance would I be fine with taking the highest rated CB or OL.

Even then I would personally take the TE out of Washington.
