Mel Kiper Jr's first mock draft 1/15/2014

Cam has sailed passes high for the three years he's been in the NFL. It was masked more when he was throwing mostly to two big TE's his rookie year. So people mock us a midget WR? No thanks. You can't expect every tiny receiver to turn into Steve Smith. Give me a big target for cam that can bring in those high passes.

Good as a smaller receiver may be, we lack that big, physical target so many other teams have.

We need that, badly.

This give ESPN another Johnny Football story to promote, I guess. For the last 2-3 years we have had The Golden Calf of Bristol, Luck, and Manziel. I'm getting exhausted with those personalities. This poo is getting even more embarrassing by the day. I remember when the NBA was at it's peak of popularity the media had their great hypes coming out every other year also. I remember Keith Van Horn was touted as the world beater who is here to set the NBA world straight. And let's not forget Darko Militic. The media need to stop that poo and just let nature be.

It's going to be a big body. Whether that's a WR, CB, or OL you can bet that DG isn't drafting an undersized anything. As much as I love Smitty he's a once in a lifetime player with that size and production. Trying to duplicate him is a mistake.

Top choices for us at this point IMO are:

Benjamin

Dennard

Amaro/Jenkins

Lewan

Richardson

Kouandjio

Gilbert

Right now I'm predicting one of those players as our pick.

if we somehow scored a James Jones or Decker, then Cooks would be ideal... if we went WR of course

I'm hesitant on Decker.  Peyton Manning's receivers don't tend to look quite the same when he's not throwing to them.

It's like signing a QB from an Andy Reid system.

I'm taller than Cooks, this is sad. Why do draft analysts insist on comparing yet to be NFL players to Steve smith on Size alone? Do they not realize that not every small framed wide out will turn out to be like Steve Smith?

i can't even think of one, can you?  santana moss had a couple decent seasons but he was never Smith dominant, i think both had great 05 years

LoL Keith Van Horn. Never thought I'd see that guys name anywhere ever again.

Speaking of KVH, I remember when Philly brought him in to be a #2 for Iverson. I was a huge Iverson fan and always thought it was a shame they could never get him help in Philly.

Was it you that compared Newton to Lebron in Cleveland recently? I really liked that post. I don't want it to be the same thing with Cam and so far it has been.
