Yeah but then Hart said that but they DID get their guy so you could interpret that as they got the head of the cult but not all of the members. I agree with your assessment though. It's a shame they won't make a second season of the pair going after the Tuttles.

Hart was referring to the murderer of Dora Lange, not the leader of the cult.  The rest of the conspiracy/cult was just a side issue that was related to their case, but not their case.

That would go against what Nic Pizzolatto said they were trying to do with a show. They wanted a beginning and an end and for it to not drag on.

Finally watched this morning after spending 2.5 hours last night fighting HBO Go.

Great finale. Some classic lines as always. "He cut me pretty good Marty." Lol

I can't wait to go back and rewatch later today to see what I missed.

I sure wouldn't mind if all parties involved revisited these characters a few years down the road...

I mean yeah the tempo picks up. If you are debating on if you should watch the remaining seven episodes, just do it. And don't read this thread until you've finished.

11 million people were not watching this series each week because it was boring.

Totally worth the hbo subscription even if you cancel after watching this show. Strongly recommend.

To answer the question above, yes it picks up. Episode 4 features camera work that could possibly rival the opening scene of saving private ryan. My opinion of course. You will not be disappointed.

Yes, it really picks up.  Just be ready to think, and only watch when you can focus solely on the show...otherwise you will get lost.

Loved the ending, really well paced finale. Liked the fact that they didn't go the 'over the top route' and kept it really satisfying. If that really is the last of Rust and Marty, it was a great note to go out on. The end dialogue and the scene with Marty and his family really sum up the characters and who they really arehave become.

I recommend the show to everyone. The acting, cinematography and story are all amazing.

I absolutely adored this show, but to me, the chasing the bad guy through a scary maze and then fighting to the death was too formulaic for my tastes, especially for a show that eschewed convention for 7+ episodes.

 

 

I kind of agree with you. It reminded me of the ending of Silence of the Lambs which wasn't bad, but I was just wanting something else from TD.  I just read through this and was surprised everyone liked it so much. After a couple of days, I am fine with the ending but my initial reaction was very luke warm. A couple of guys I work with that were so into TD (as everyone was) still hate the way it ended.

 

The part that I don't really care for is that throughout the whole show there were so many different nuiances that were never wrapped up. Maybe that is because the didn't get them all but I honestly was hoping for more from the last episode. What was I hoping for I have no idea really but that wasn't it.

HULK WAS KIND OF GOING NUTS ABOUT THIS SHOW FROM THE PILOT, SENSING WHAT THEY WERE REALLY GOING TO DO IT EVEN THEN. BECAUSE EVERYTHING WAS ABOUT THIS GRANDER PURPOSE. DETAILS WERE NEVER JUST DETAILS. THEY WERE ABOUT THE GRANDER PLACEMENT OF THESE MOMENTS IN A LARGER STORY. NOT JUST THE DETAILS OF 1995 OR 2002 OR 2014, BUT THE DETAILS OF A STORY AS OLD AS TIME. WHICH MEANS THE DETAILS OF MARTY'S DAUGHTER AND THE IMPLICATION OF THE SEXUAL MEN DOING BAD THINGS TO HER WERE NOT SO MUCH A CLUE, BUT NOR WERE THEY A RED HERRING. IT WAS A DETAIL ABOUT A LARGER STORY. SAME GOES FOR MARTY'S AFFAIRS OR RUST'S TRAGIC LOSS, BOTH JUST OUR INABILITIES TO CREATE BRIDGES WITH OTHERS. NO, IT IS ALL PART OF THE FOREVER STORY BETWEEN MEN AND WOMEN AND YOUNG GIRLS AND SEXUAL IMPULSES AND UNFAIR EXPECTATIONS AND EVIL ACTS, ALL WITHIN ARMS REACH, ALL LEADING TO THE MENTAL BARRIERS WE CREATE TO PRETEND THEY ARE NOT SO CLOSE.       Personally, I am not sold on Bryce yet--and I do not think anyone is saying they are, but I don't think Ward is on table when we draft anyway.  Not even sure if I would rather have him than one of the later QBs.  I see a lot of potential in Allar, Nussmeire, Rourke, and even Hamilton from Ohio State--Milroe is intriguing, but I am not sure he is an NFL QB.  Ewers is that sleeper who falls and becomes a solid starter. I think that we sign a veteran who has played and we draft one of these project QBs. To your point:  With that in mind, I think you have to take QB off the table in round 1, and if Bryce can string 4-5 games like KC together, we still need to draft a QB in round three or so---I really think Rourke is a great fit for this offense--he is accurate and gets the ball out quickly---he impressed me vs OSU.   Reason?  I think we may have a tough decision to make about Bryce in 2 years--will he be worth $60m?  That decision is a lot easier if you have been grooming a backup for 2 years who can play. In round 1: I am hoping for PSU's edge Abdul Carter In round 2:  I would like to see us grab a DT who can rush the passer.  Walter Nolen of Ole Miss is versatile and a bit raw. I think he could be an excellent complement to Brown. In round 3:  I would love ILB Danny Stutsman from Oklahoma.  He is a beast. With 11 picks, I would package our 4th rounders to move up into the third round and take a QB.  At the moment, I think Rourke is trending upward and he has the skills Canales seems to want in a QB.  Quick processor, quick release. I would use the fifth rounders on OL.  I know that I left out WR--however, we are getting Thielen back, XL will be improved, Coker will be improved, and Moore has been surprisingly good.  Sanders (TE) has been more than expected in the passing game.  I think we need D more than WR, and maybe we can get a veteran WR to sign or find a hidden gem late.

      Wouldn't be surprised if he starts a couple Jets games this year with the way the Rodgers thing is going. Giants fans are pissed they didn't keep him lol. He might actually have a little bit of a market.

      I think we look at both.  I wouldn't mind resigning Dalton for a deal.  He would know the offense and there is no pressure to see what we have in him. Then I wouldn't mind finding a low round rookie with potential.
