Priority Number 1 - Offensive Line

NE invested in the left side and coaches up the right. Protect your star QB.

N.Solder (LT) - 1st rounder (pick 17)

L.Mankins(LG) - 1st rounder (pick 32)

R.Wendell © - UDFA

D. Connolly (RG) - UDFA (Jags)

M.Cannon (RT) - 5th rounder (pick 138)

I don't believe eye-popping stat Brady appeared until he got weapons (he averaged ~25TDs / season prior to 2007). Then he has had Moss/Welker/Hernandez/Gronk/Amendola/etc.....

You don't think signing Nicks and drafting a mid round wr would address the wr position?

They would only have 3 WR's at that point and not have a sure fire #1 guy. So No that wouldn't be close to taking care of WR. They need to get at least 4 in the draft or FA. Bring back Ginn and the team still needs 3 wr somewhere. The team has no young talent at WR and needs a big time talent infusion.

Considering that there isn't going to be a OT worthy of the 28th pick the most likely place the team goes is WR or CB.

I expect Carolina to re-sign Ginn. Also I doubt a first round wr will be able to contribute right away.

They're going to have to find one that can and does, they won't have the FA money to make a big splash at WR and there aren't any worth a good contract. Nicks is always hurt and isn't worth throwing a ton of money at. Bring Ginn back and the team still needs 3 guys with two of them being able to contribute. I think Smitty being moved to the slot is for the best for the team.

Lafell isn't worth being brought back at all, he proved that against Atlanta. So they will have to find 2 guys at least in the draft that contribute day 1 at WR or the team will be back in the same position they were in this season. Not having enough weapons to give Cam a real chance.

Wharton played very well this year, he's an above average guard and graded out positively for the season even being signed so late.

Amini was playing at a top 5 level before he got hurt.

Kalil is a top 5 center.

Gross is a pro-bowl LT coming off one of his best seasons.

The OLine only looked bad because we had a DT starting at guard and possibly the worst starting OT in the league.

Re-sign Wharton, get Amini back healthy, Gross returns for another season. Then all we need is a decent RT and this is a top 10 (possibly top 5) OLine. Solid vet RTs are pretty easy and cheap to find in FA and we finally have a GM that's good at picking out quality players via free agency.

So no, we don't need to blow every single one of our early draft picks on OLine.

A.J. Green disagrees with you.

to be fair, he was #3, not #28.  fact is, pretty hard to find a guy picked in low first that contributes right away.  dont get me wrong, there have been some great rookie WR, most were either obvious starts picked in top 10-12, or surprises that came in the rounds 3-6

Keenan Allen was a third rounder last year, he contributed nicely for the Chargers.

Yes you make a good point for next year but in 1-2 years when Gross and Wharton are gone you are looking really bad at Oline. Tunnel vision (looking just at next year) will doom the future of the team. Project 3 to 5 years down so you can sustain that success like the Pats.

Cheap and easy to find OL men are not very good...

There is a reason they are cheap and unsigned yet...

Rodger Saffold and Michael should be had for cheaper than what most people think. Possibly on one year deal.

Breno Giacomini is another solid RT. Chris Clark doesnt have a lot of experience but played damn good this season blocking Peyton's blindside.

There. Gettleman will go OT in Free Agency so we can quit the OT in the 1st round talk.

Yes, because you know exactly what he is going to do.....NOT!!!!

    • KC has a very good defense this year. It is 5th overall. Yes, still worse than last year, but their offense is considerably worse. Their passing D may be their "weakness" but they still allow fewer than 20 ppg. BY completed several deep passes yesterday, and he was able to threaten downfield in ways he didn't seem capable of before the benching. I'm not necessarily worried about his ability to connect deep anymore. What to me was impressive was that he did all this without a run game. We used the pass to set up what little running success we had. Wild.
    • Solid and fair assessment.   I will say, one of the big things I noticed yesterday was that he wasn't shy to step up into the pocket in the face of pressure.  He's trusting the IOL.  And they took care of Chris Jones yesterday.  We had clean pockets but also good success rate vs. pressure which just hasn't been the case with Bryce.   If he has more confidence the OL gets it done and he can navigate and step up for throws, that's huge.  It's one of the biggest things that's held him back.  He was previously bailing quickly and just too easily throwing away or making dead plays.     He was finding his 2nd to 3rd reads within structure/without bailing in the pocket.  That was nice to see, as much concern I have with him.  And the overall limitations will always be there. Time to back it up this week against the Bucs.
    • Suddenly the Cowgirls look like our best chance for a win remaining. I think the Bucs are playing better than the Falcons of late.  Our lone game versus the dirty birds is in the ATL where we always struggle.  The Cardinals are marginally better than I thought they would be. We are not beating the Eagles, they are starting to roll. I'm saying two at most, next week at home versus the Bucs and the Cowgirls.
