Priority Number 1 - Offensive Line

Recommended Posts

As I see it, our number one priority is at Tackle and Guard.

I know, I know, many of you are preaching WR. WR's don't protect Cam, nor do they help get some kind of return out of our ball achingly ridiculous RB cap situation.  Therefore WR's take a back seat.

Gross is up in the air and Bell is a backup at best. Needing two new OT's going into an offseason is pretty awful. It doesn't get much worse than that. We all need to pray Jordan decides to play one more season and for next to nothing salary wise.

Getting Amini back will help, and Kugzilla is green and unproven but with an up side. But Wharton and Scott are hot garbage. Garry Williams probably ballooned up to over 400 pounds since September. Hangman they tried to get rid of in August. Nate Chandler, while serviceable, is also a backup in this league at best.

So worst case scenario we will need two new starting tackles and 1 new starting guard. 3 of 5 starters not just new to starting but new to the team.

How long do you think it will take for them to gel and start working well together under Shula. 1 game? 4 games? 8?

So here is the question, how much of our resources do you feel should go to remedy the above listed problems.

Agree  We need to spend 1st round  & 3rd round on OL  and We need to get Elite Players which we are going to be in position for the 1st round atleast

2nd, 4th, 5th , 6th, & 7th can be dedicated to WR/ TE and CB

Really considering the Talent we had on the Oline it to me makes Cam just that more impressive, I'm expecting a double dip on the Oline this year.

and Honestly if Hardy isn't staying(which looks like he's gone) I'd hope we Tag and trade him for a 1st at least and maybe a 1 and a 2 and and use the 1st on another O-linemen.

I think that unless there is a skill player available that is just too good to pass up, that we'll go OL with our first two picks, just as we did with the DL this year. Everything starts in the trenches. A strong O line will have a trickle down effect. It won't make any of our WRs all pros, but it will give us back our run game, which will take pressure off of our receivers.

I would love to have the luxury of being able to pick a 1st round WR, but it's just that, a luxury. Gettleman is RE-building this team, and you have to start with the foundation which are the DL and OL.

So put rookie offensive lineman in front of Cam while at the same time giving him nobody to throw to? 7-9 at best.

Hakeem Nicks better be on his way to Charlotte if we aren't drafting a wr.

Boldin took over for Baltimore in the playoffs last season they trade him and don't sniff the playoffs, meanwhile he tore us apart without him we beat San Fran.

If you want me to buy in to this team not drafting a WR again, fine but we damn sure better not go into next season with Steve Smith as our only legitimate receiving threat.

Wharton is hot garbage? Okay, maybe he didn't play well in the playoffs but he played very well for us in the regular season.

Wharton isn't bad but he is getting old and we need to build a younger and stronger OL around Kalil. Wharton got pushed back at goal line which caused Tolbert to trip. Imagine if you had Gabe Jackson or Cyril Richardson at LG we would have punched it.

:rr:

    • Film Room Playlist _ NFL Pro — Mozilla Firefox 2024-11-25 10-20-11.mp4 🎯🎯🎯 There were a couple of "fans" yesterday saying that this wasn't a helmet-to-helmet shot... 👀 Looks like based on where Moore was and where the play ended, he'd have gotten maybe just a yard or two more. Chuba was downed at the KC 16 and Moore was on his way back to the QB, so the offense got what they could for the most part. After reviewing the all-22, Bryce made the right call here. Tremble was the hot and KC sent both LBs. He gets it out with a clear pocket but it's quickly collapsing. If there was a little more time it looked like AT came free at the end but whether or not Bryce would've been upright still is another story. Smart move to get the completion and keep the field goal in play to stay alive. George Karlaftis is about to get himself a big ole hug and Bryce heaves it to where David Moore is going. Trent McDuffie slipped just a step or two before this shot, but we can see the clear DPI here as he's wrapped around David Moore before knocking him over as the ball gets there.
    • I’m taking a TE early day 3 Ian Thomas and Tremble are FA.  We should have no desire to bring them back.   There’s more than enough film of ball bouncing off their hands or facemask.
    • Daniel Jones sometimes would sling it for 300 or 400 yards.  That's my stance.  We know what Bryce is.  If you consistently play any QB at this level, they largely are going to end up w/ some good days/games.  last time Mahomes was at BOA, Teddy Bridgwater threw for 300+ yards and a couple TDs and the Matt Rhule Panthers almost took him down.  We know what Bryce is.  Now we got people predictably falling into a predictable trap.
