My same reaction when you say he sucks.  The whole total yards rankings are totally bogus given that the 2nd ranked team and 25th ranked team in total yards are often within 60 yards a game which is 1 drive.

You're right up is down, and the sky is green.

So are we going to hear bitching for months now that he is staying?  Can't you idiots at least give it a rest until June or July about Shula.

No I'll wait until we're still poo on offense again, and everyone but you few retards are calling out Shula for what he is.

It's not like I'm saying something amazingly different. It's been said over and over since his promotion.

LoL i don't think you can call anyone an idiot after you argued with many of us on how Cam's TD pass to Hixon wasn't a great throw, or how Cam's receivers bail him out all the time without being able to give examples.

Our offense doing poorly has nothing to do with TOP. We won TOP against the 49'ers and lost by a large margin. We can still have a good attack with a high TOP. Right now we're only spinning our wheels on most drives.

despite the refs, and your obvious hate for shula, our offense had it's opportunities to score twice, which would have given us the win.

Our offense gave us a chance to we stayed ahead. It doesn't give a chance from being behind.

This was his first time as an OC in the new NFL.  What he did 11-13 years has no bearing on this year or going forward.

Oh. I get it. The "new" NFL makes all the difference. Shula has been on the sidelines of the "new" NFL presumably learning, adapting and even creating "new" philosophies to be successful in this "new" era.  I don't see evidence that he has done anything of the sort.  His imagination and creativity in play calling just wreaks of the 1990s, at best.

One thing that you can say about Rivera is that the team did improve once he got here, and improved every year that he has been here. Shula, who should have had a near seamless transition, has the offense near the bottom of the league. Our offense which was first in big plays in 2012, was dead last in big plays in 2013. That's the fact, and it sucks, just like Shula did in the old NFL, and so far in the "new" NFL.

despite the wins that we came from behind.

Right?

Right?!?!?!

Right. Start thanking Cam Newton in hurry up mode pulling out game winning last minute drives.

Our offense philosophy is what we saw yesterday. Slow eight minute drive that stalled to nothing.

hardy is more than likely gone. if we sign and trade. how much cap hit would that be? or does the team we trade to get that hit?

Honestly I'm not sure, you can trade away contracts aside from signing bonuses. Signing bonuses are amortized over the length of the deal, but aren't traded with the player since the player realizes the amount the second he SIGNS

For instance, when Beason signed his 6-year, $53 million contract extension with us a couple years ago, we gave him a signing bonus of $20 million that day, but the cap hit was divided evenly over 5 years of the contract ($4 million per). Even though he restructured prior to the trade (really, it was a straight pay cut, basically giving up $4.25 million) to reduce his base salary to $1 million, we couldn't do anything about the original signing bonus since it had already been paid, so we still had the $4 million cap hit from the original bonus in addition to the $1 million base salary. Still, that's $5 million compared to $9.25 million on the cap.

When we traded Beason, the $4 million of amortized signing bonus was still our burden, but his new base of $1 million was transferred to the Giants. Side note: Since we only got through 3 of the 5 years of signing bonus ($12m of $20m) we have to eat the remaining $8m this upcoming season. Here nor there...

My point is, I'm not sure where the line is between signing bonus and other guaranteed money (assuming there is guaranteed money aside from signing bonuses). A franchised player is guaranteed 100% of the salary, but if it's considered a signing bonus then the team trading him away would be footing the bill. If not, in theory one could orchestrate a "sign-and-trade" similar to what is common in the NBA, but I can't find much info on the practice from an NFL standpoint.

My god!  How can people justify having a 28th ranked offense with Cam Newton? It's just not conceivable, really.

Only in the Huddle.

Never thought I'd see the day that people support Shulaball.  Shulaball is not something to be lauded. It should be scorned. It's like being forced to take castor oil.  There is a better way!
