what 5 players could we do without next season?

1. Byron Bell - The weakest link on the OL. I love his story but a story isn't going to keep NFL defensive players from hitting the QB. OT has become what DT once was for this team. I wouldn't be surprised to see Gettleman double dip at the position whether or not Gross comes back for another season or two.
2. Garry Williams - Sucks about his injuries. Hope he gets well. I was never impressed with him when he did play and found him messing up quite often.
3. Chris Scott - When you can't win your job back from Nate Chandler, your services are no longer required.

4. Jeff Byers - Hasn't done much other than hurt Cam's hand and hold Kalil's jock most of his football career starting in college. I'd prefer Hangartner over Byers, and I get the strange impression that he doesn't really fit in with the rest of the OL in the locker room.

5. Brian Folkers - Back-up center. Hangartner can double as a back-up guard/center if he's kept to keep Gross happy and cheap.

And just because I'm bored, 5 players that we can't do without next season:
1. Mike Mitchell - This man became one of my favorite Panthers of all-time, even if he goes somewhere else. Mitchell brought fire, soul, and tenacity to the secondary. This is who we need in the backfield chattering, not Charles Godfrey (though if Godfrey promises to wrap up and take a paycut, I don't mind him trying to be a FS if his Achilles doesn't hold him back).
2. Graham Gano - Money all year. Touchbacks galore. Lock him up.
3. Ted Ginn Jr - He gives ST a threat that we haven't had in years and he can blow the top off of a defense.
4. Jordan Gross - Rome wasn't fixed in a day and neither will the OL. Gross has become the veteran leader that keeps the troops calm and can clearly still play at an elite level.
5. Greg Hardy - The Kraken. Pay him pls.

No one knows what he is....

We are obligated to get reps to overpaid RBs and there aren't reps to give him.

yes indeed. certainly i'm nervous with him returning any kick as it often gets twisted in midair from big hits when he leaves his feet. that's why i think he should put on some weight or muscle or both. fumbles will not get him anywhere with RR. so as of now, he may as well be a wasted spot. smh talented but not a good resource..

nice! Hardy is the only one that can be argued only because its a possibility he'll break the bank which will hurt the obvious whole as you listed. Also gross is hit or miss imo. great guy but he's coming to a wrap up some.

Barner didn't fumble this year. Our others RBs did.

maybe i'm thinking preseason... nevertheless he certainly got popped when in. and yes our rbs certainly coughed up some big plays. at times it looks like MT should start regularly.

Well, when in they ran the little guy in scenarios like he was a FB. They basically set him up to be drilled. He isn't Jerome Bettis.

Brandon Lafell (he's only minimally better than the Keary Colberts, Drew Carters, and Dwayne Jarretts of the world)

Josh Thomas (I don't think this really needs an explanation)

Byron Bell (at least out of the starting lineup)

Jonathon Stewart (can't stay healthy and is in a crowded backfield)

Chase Blackburn (only because I think the D played better with AJ Klein in that spot)

Just perfect.

Ok, here's my list and as a bonus I'm not including guys at the bottom of the depth charts or guys who we can't cut (like J. Stew) because of their cap hit.  (I wouldn't drop him even if we could).

5 players - You're fired!

1.Drayton Florance

2. Donald Lafell

3. Dwan Edwards

4. Chase Blackburn

5. Charles Godfrey

5 players - You're now a backup.  (Where you should be)

1. Byron Bell

2. Nate Chandler

3. Chris Scott

4. Deangelo Williams

5. Chase Blackburn

5 players - Mo Money (players we resign)

1. Da Kracken

2. Jordan Gross

3. Captain

4. Mike Mitchel

5. Ted Ginn

5 other moves to make

1. 1-year deal for Wharton and move him to RG (Amini back at LG).  He can also be great depth if Kugbilla is at all decent.

2.  Trade the Kracken if we had to franchise him for draft picks.

(If we signed him long term I'm assuming here Gettlemen got him for something remotely reasonable.)

3. Extend Riverboat Ron for 3 years and give that man a raise.

4. Fire Shula.  Now that you've decided Ron is the coach of the future it's time to build the offense of the future around Cam.  I think Shula was a good

move last year to keep things going the way they were since Ron might now be back.  Now, with Ron in for the long haul  Gettlemen can decided on the

best offense to run and the person who should run it.

5. Extend Cam.  He's the future and you can do the contract so that it's backloaded until we get out of salery cap hell in a year or two thus allowing us to

    sign other players.

5 need in FA or draft

1.  Top level WR.  Kelvin Benjamin.  Hakeen Nicks.  Something needs to be done to get us another weapon at WR.

2.  Tackles.  We need them bad.  If we don't resign Jordan Gross we need them really, really, really,..uh..really bad.

3.  Stong Safety. We need one.  The kid from Bama looked good at times this year but I don't know if I want him starting yet.

4.  CB - Captain is best as a nickel cornor but he's not bad an outside cornor.  In any event we need a 3rd starting CB.

5.  Tackles.  Or guards.  I'd even take a good center an play him at guard.  We need O-linemen.  Bad.
