Let him walk. Im a believer that wheb players get paid, they get complacent and dont play hard anymore. Sure you can point to guys like Mario Williams, but for every Mario there is a Vick, Flacco, Peppers, Stewie that suddenly become injury prone or suddenly forget how to play NFL level of football. I really hate big money contracts. The idea of "guaranteed money," is a mother fugging joke. The only player on this roster I have complete faith in that wouldnt slack off after a big pay day is Keek and Cam, those are players I really believe winning is number 1 to them. Im sorry, but Hardy definatley strikes me as the type to slack off after he gets paid.

Panthers needed a couple of sacks yesterday, how'd that go?

 

The yearly contenders don't break the bank for every guy that has a good season. Carolina is strong inside on the D line and already has a big money guy in CJ, so if push comes to shove that money can be used to address other areas that aren't so stacked.

 

If he can't be traded, let him go.

I like your thinking Catalyst.  Hardy turned down an 8m offer.  Gettleman knows what he has to work with and either sign him, tag him, or sign and trade for a draft pick.  He will leave out emotions and make a good decision on what this team needs.

It all depends on how you choose to interpret that comment.

 

I took it in the context of his answer to mean that he would love to stay here as long as he gets a contract that he believes is fair... nothing wrong with that. 

 

Fans twist up words of athletes all the time, he could said something about what shirt he wore today and it would have got twisted into something about his contract situation. It just the way it is unfortunately.

and just like that, it begins. it just doesn't sit well with me how this talk ended. i understand he wants to get paid but how much is enough for him to be "good." then we must ask at the point of him being good, will he still be hungry? also is good Charles Johnson money? we got some serious issues to fix on the Oline, WR, CB, and some other bills to pay and yes Hardy does deserve to get paid but will it be DG Magic or a Peppers like exit?

that's what i would say too.. hopefully they work it out. if they do we may make some serious cuts... hopefully we can fill some voids.
