Greg Hardy: "If I get what I need, THEN we're good!"

I'll say it again; franchise & trade. Someone will give up at least a 2nd rounder for Hardy, even with the contract he'll demand. Teams need pass rushers badly and Hardy will generate interest from teams picking in the late 1st/early 2nd round.

We can afford to take a step back on defense if it means being able to upgrade the offense around Cam. Addison may not be Hardy, but he's no scrub either and we can manage with him & C.J. with our young DT's & Luke/TD at linebacker. We can't manage with Cam continuing to throw to sub-par WR's and behind a mediocre OL.

Exactly. Well said.

It all depends on how you choose to interpret that comment.

I took it in the context of his answer to mean that he would love to stay here as long as he gets a contract that he believes is fair... nothing wrong with that.

it always seems to me respect was more important than anything else to him.

Yup and a fair contract offer is a way of showing respect, in the same way that Chris Canty said earlier in the year that he talked to Gettleman about coming here but Gettleman said he didn't have much cap to play with and didn't want to insult him with a low offer (which Canty really appreciated and respected).

Give up Hardy AND a pick for Watkins? Nah...I'm all set

That is under the assumption we would lose him anyway. If you can keep him then that's option #1, but if you feel like he's not going to stay using him to trade up is a smart move. Or we can let him walk let Pep.

There is nothing wrong with him having this stance. The man has been playing at am elite level on a 6th rounder salary for the past few years.

I want badly to keep him, because he brings a much needed attitude to our defense and continuity is important.

With that said, I don't want to hinder the future of this team with retarded ass contracts either...so who knows. Hardy deserves every penny he is about to make.

Ok since nobody else will say it. Franchise him then trade him to Oakland with our first rounder and draft Sammy. Super Bowl

he made it clear he doesn't want to play on another sorry team.... the big boy team will bite at him, we just better tag him and let them bag em or else we should be known as a breeding zone!

agreed... I just had to stir the pot a little after our reality check. but the man certainly wants to get paid and rightfully so. the question is what is best for the team looking forward. we got bills and need skills!
