If you don't feel like playing with this, I'll sum it up for you... Godfrey's bags are packed.

Cutting Godfrey would gain us the largest amount of cap space (2,100,000).

Next man up would be Dwan Edwards with a savings of 1,368,750 against the cap.

So according to this thing, cutting Godfrey and Edwards would give us 19,675,522 in cap space... not bad.

Change Godfrey to a June 1 cut.

Making Deangelo a June 1st cut actually frees up a couple million in cap space.  How many June 1st cuts can we have?  It seems like we can only have one or two a year but maybe I'm wrong.  There are also several guys that we could "restructure" or "extend" and save big money next year but I suppose the devil would be in the details on something like that.

Ahhhh, thank you very much... forgot about that little June 1st trick: 5.1 million in cap savings.

Nice knowing you Godfrey.

So that takes us to 22.7 million in cap space.

Tried the 6/1 trick on Stew and it made the cap savings/loss = 0 which would be about right based on his ability to contribute this year, LOL

the going trend this offseason, will be restructure.  the players on this team like being on this team, like their coach. I see alot of them doing whats necessary to keep the band together.

Unless your name is Charles Godfrey and it's June 1st... LOL

How do you cut dwill when he's the only back who can stay healthy. Unless we draft one I can't see either going anywhere. Got to restructure Stewarts deal again and you got the medical records to show him he should take one

I think you restructure DeAngelo and make Stew a 6/1 cut to nullify any cap hit... we went 12-4 without Stew this year and Tolbert was able to fill his role, we need that roster spot back.

Nothing against Stew, but he just hasn't been able to answer the bell... time to move on IMO.

Most of the big name dudes (Kalil, Olsen, Gross, Williams, CJohnson) redid their deals last year. DWill and Gross took pay cuts actually.

Olsen and CJ could likely be offered new deals that convert salary to bonus cash + two years on their contracts.

This would free up a few million each and keep assets on the teams. It pushes back the issue a bit as well, but the Cap will rise eventually.

    • I call bullshit. Brady,Manning,Brees and Burrow are all just ball distributors. And the better thier supporting cast and more experience they got the better they got. Thier best attributes were between the ears.  Now I'm not saying Bryce is gonna turn into one of them but what I want is for him. Is to have a solid roster around him and some coaching continuity too see if he takes the next step. Because everything I've seen and read after the benching is that his mental toughness and workethic are what we need in a QB
    • Many criticize our picks in 2024. I believe that most of them were picked because their ceiling is better than those selected before them.  XLs needs to learn how to play in the NFL. Once he gets up to speed he'll be worthy of 32nd pick.  Brooks, showed why we took him in the few games he played. The ACL injury really sucks but he can overcome these setbacks. Remember TD had 3 ACLs and eventually will be in the ring of honor one day.  Wallace will be a solid LB going forward with experience  Sanders, TE is a tough position to play. He a getting valuable playing time and will become a good TE.  Going down the remaining draft pics all seem to have a good upside. They may not be showing much now but they will start showing their worth next season.
    • I think he's shown enough that if a QB fell to us at our pick we'd either draft a defensive player or trade down for more picks.
