we're actually not that bad off:

Rank Team Cap Room

1 Cleveland Browns $24,194,764

2 Jacksonville Jaguars $20,099,666

3 Buffalo Bills $18,950,531

4 Miami Dolphins $17,802,920

5 Philadelphia Eagles $17,225,719

6 Carolina Panthers $11,637,268

gettleman has brought us a long way in a short time

We still need to look into how much dead money we are taking with us into this off-season. I thought I remember reading that we had quite a few million in dead money that we have to subtract from our total cap space to get the real number of cap space we can use this off-season for signings and what not.  I've seen so many different numbers in regards to what we have for cap space that I am not quite sure what to believe or think.

this was back in december.  i notice all those teams are eliminated and may have already cleared some space?

This is based on the list from the NFL on what space remained for this season, once the season is over this will change, the Giants for one are projected to have 16 million in space next season while the cowboys will be something like 30 million over the limit

Yea, I dont really know. I dont think Oakland is that low with only "$2,624,069" tho. It was said that the Raiders are supposed to have around 60 mil. It doesnt look correct.

1st year.  NFCS Champs.  Playoffs.  1st Round Bye.  I mean all is not placed on him, between him and the coaches this was a good year and a sign of things to come.  Think of all the injuries we had to a decent OL, think about how well this OL played and we didn't have 2 or 3 starters go down within the first 5 weeks how well they could of meshed.  KEEP POUNDING!

With the budgetary concerns that he had to deal with, G-man did an amazing job. I'd give him an A+ on the business side of the game, I'd also give him an A- in regards to his FA pick-ups in keeping with said budgetary concerns (indeed, Ginn's hands were good enough to justify bringing him in and helping us out, particularly in special teams). Unlike some others, I feel compelled to give G-man a B in regards to drafting and trading (or lack thereof). People can put their heads in the sand all they want, and Short looks to be a good pick-up no doubt, but that pick should have been Keenan Allen. Allen's presence would have been much more prolific and helpful to us especially in the playoffs. Picking up Domenik Hixon was OK, but at 1.2 mil for a year, we could have gotten more (and paid less). Moreover, if we had moved soon enough on Josh Gordon, we could have probably gotten him for a 2nd round pick (not that I don't believe he was worth a first). All that being said, overall I would give G-man a B+.

DG has been amazing. Some of you guys have unrealistic expectations. Fix the DT, WR, Secondary, Oline all in 1 season. Good luck with that. Expecting 2nd and 4th round picks to actually contribute significantly...

You kinda got to treat building a team to fixing a car. You got 500 bucks and the engine is acting funny, you got a flat tire, the brake isnt working properly, etc. The good GMs use the money to fix the engine/brake and patch up the flat tire. The sucky GM will buy rims and get a paint job.

In my opinion in DG first year we fixed the brakes and engine. We now have a finely tuned car that can consistent go places without it breaking down. This means our team should be a winning one for the next 5 years at least maybe longer. We still got problems but they are more minor.

Run game sucks - pretty important and should be the next fix ---> draft/sign O line men

Engine lacks power - need a #1 WR to help the entire offensive

Secondary is not all that good but its good enough put off til more major problems are fixed

I read an article recently on Gettleman and was definitely moved by his story. He is the guy that comes to start work at like midnight to start his day. He never stops working and all he ever wanted was an opportunity to be GM.

I believe that he will make the most of it. He's out to prove all the organizations and even the Giants wrong for not giving him a chance. Excited to see his moves.

I think what people are failing to realize is just how special this season was. We were not built to go 12-4....and I can comfortably say that the majority of the fan base did not expect us to win the division or make a playoff run.

We were $10 million over the cap when Gettleman got here and pissed that he cut James Anderson. Out of the 5 draft picks he made, 3 contributed significantly all season (Barner is still up in the air)...with Star being the most underrated player on our defense. This year he'll have six picks and will sure up our glaring weaknesses there and through the draft.

I trust in his abilities to scout players. That's all anyone from the Giants organization talks about when they describe his work ethic come draft time....late nights and early mornings. He'll make the most of his opportunity as a GM. Believe in Gettlemagic!

And who knows...Kugbilla could turn out to be something! (I'm not holding my breath tho)
