Something upsetting about next season...no running game

Deangelo and his 2 yards an a cloud of dust hamper us more than Stewart.

We pay him so much money we feel obligated to give him carries. I would rather him run for 4-5 yards on every play than 1-2 yards and the occasional big run.

After his typical 1st down runs we are left 2nd and Long...like 2nd and 8/9.. Then if we go back to him like we did on the first drive of the second half we get 3rd and 7.

Dwill/jstew just prove no matter what you got at RB a good oline is needed. Hurney spent years building up positions that don't matter.

Someone else mentioned it.  It's not the RB's.  (Mostly)  It's the O-line.  Specifically, it's the guards.

We've got Wharton who's up there in age and is getting past his prime.

Gross is still a decent left tackle but not great.  He's very long in the tooth as well.

Kalil is a solid probowler and is fine.

Chandler doesn't even have a years experience playing on the o-line, much less guard.  He could turn into something but I don't know his potential.

Bell is Bell.  He doesn't get beat on every play.

Ameni will be a huge help in the run game when he gets back.

We've got two solid starter in Ameni and Kalil.  Gross could hold up for one more year.  We need a furture LT and a RT to replace Bell.  Despite Chandler we also still need a RG.

Pass blocking is decent for the most part.  Not great but with Cam's ability to move around it can work.  Cam could also help out by not holding onto the ball for so long.  But our lines gets no push in the run game.  Granted the 49'ers have a hell of a run D but this has been a problem all year.

The majority of our good run plays are based on misdirection, not push from our line.

Wanted to add this that I found on PFF.   They are dead on.

Three Guards, No Positives

The Panthers used a two-man rotation at right guard between Nate Chandler (-1.3) and Chris Scott (-2.4), while left guard Travelle Wharton manned his usual spot, but all three finished in the red. Wharton was particularly disappointing given his strong play since taking over the job back in Week 6 as he finished at -3.2 overall including -4.4 against the run.

Wharton was controlled by Justin Smith on more than one occasion, most notably in the first quarter at both the 9:12 and 0:55 marks where Smith stood him up and got inside to make the tackle. Perhaps his worst play, however, came with 4:47 to go in the second quarter when he tripped on his pull attempt on 3rd-and-goal. Tolbert subsequently tripped over Wharton and the 49ers had their second goal line stand of the first half.

As for Chandler and Scott, Chandler got little movement in the running game and surrendered a sack to DE Tony Jerod-Eddie with 7:11 to go in the fourth quarter while Scott gave up three hurries on his 21 pass block attempts. It was not a good day for Carolina’s guards.

You can get a Tre Mason in the 2nd or 3rd. A James Wilder Jr in the 5th.

We messed up by paying RB's too much. Let's not double that mistake by then not buying when they are cheap.

There's no way tre Mason goes in the 3rd round

Running game is as putrid as the passing game.First off (not to mention any names), having a player that can never play and kill our cap with a ridiculous contract is maddening. To be handcuffed with this crap with no way out for another season or three sucks. Every team in our division next year will be more competitive and we need all the help we can get on offense. Our running game sucks..13 for 33 yesterday (Williams is about done) and the oline needs help big time....but 33 yards? Something has to change or Cam wont make it a full season (he is the whole running game) If there is more bike riding while we cant gain one yard I will puke. You can add fixing the running game to the list of needs.

Can't they give this guy an injury settlement or something?

5 fuggin carries 5 mother fuggin carries.........and now dwill is done.....some of you after a loss throw all logic out the window

Williams gets bottled up, all the time, by good Ds and bad ones.

He is a good RB now.  You can find those cheap.  Good RBs can run behind good OLs.  They can't behind bad ones.  Shady McCoy could run behind our OL.  He is an elite RB
