Something upsetting about next season...no running game

man this is foolish! our run game suck for the most part because the same ones that allow Cam to be pressured can't block to create holes. However with the whack line it proves who the better back has been! just sayin!

We have invested in a backfield as if they have the talent to play in non-ideal scenarios....

It looked to me that our RBs were failing in large part because their defensive linemen were camping out in our offensive backfield most of the afternoon... Perhaps even aided by some very questionable no calls on what could have been a handful of offsides penalties against them...

Again when we needed running yards, we had to turn to Cam, putting our franchise in danger.

We aren't built to have a Brees like offense where the run game is developed off a heavily slanted pass O.

Teams aren't loading up like they do AP to stop our rush attack

But you have to admit though we beat a lot of teams this year where Cam was the leading rusher. So adding a franchise WR will take some attention away from the backfield. I do admit however that our running game is pretty bad. We haven't had a 1000 yards rusher in a few years now. Running the football is not the number one priority right now as the threat is still there. We can't fix everything in one off season, we need to focus on pass catchers this year.

There's nothing we can do about Stewart. We are stuck with him for a while.

Deangelo's about as good as BenJarvis Green-Ellis. I like the guy but he isn't worth his price tag. There are more efficent runners playing for playoff teams on very little contracts.

Both our RB's are getting Peterson/Lynch/Foster money with half the ability, and it's killing our money towards our WR's and DB's.

I said it yesterday and it got lost in the shuffle so I'll say it here as well:

Honestly what's worse? Deangelo's mega contract and his -1 yard losses virtually every time he touches the ball, or Stewart and his large contract and the fact that the guy could not possibly care less about playing pro football?

I find them equally expendable. Ship those two off, use a late round pick on a back, bring in a handful of UDFAS's, you're virtually guaranteed to get a guy that way, and match them up with Tolbert and an improved offensive line and you're set.

If you can trade Beason, don't tell me its completely out of the realm of possibility to send them somewhere. Anywhere. Canada, maybe.

You can get a Tre Mason in the 2nd or 3rd. A James Wilder Jr in the 5th.

We messed up by paying RB's too much. Let's not double that mistake by then not buying when they are cheap.

I think a big problem with our running game has been the consistent telegraphing of running plays before they happen.  We all that when we see certain formations with Deangelo/Tolert in the backfield whats coming and so does the defense.  This line up and run the same play over and over again doesn't work in this league.  We are not the '67 Packers and the league has evolved so that nobody else is either.  I'm not sure Adrian Peterson would have had much more success as our RB over the course of this season than the guys we had valiantly plowing into the line time after time.

The issue with our running game is not the RB's (except for their terrible contracts).

The issue with our running game is the OL....it needs an upgrade.

Gettlemen loves to build through the DL and OL.....DL was fixed in last year's draft.  The OL will be fixed in this year's draft.

This is why I will not be surprised at all if we double down on OL in the first two rounds.

My choice is either WR and OL in the first two rounds....order depending on who is there.  Or, to double down on OL.

If we're to pick a RB in the later rounds it has to be a pass catching type like a D'Anthony Thomas. But I don't wanna a RB to sniff at our first 4 rounds.
