I wish it wasn't but it is.

he only caught 49 balls this year

88-49=38

that's not drops.  targets are basically when the receiver is in the area of where the ball goes.  a fair number of those could be balls he would have no chance of completing.

wtf good is his blocking if the rb can't get to the second level.........yeah thats a good trait you want your wr to have but with our o line it rarely matters.

he is not the guy and there is 0 reasons to keep him on the team, ginn did better and im pretty sure he got less targets......hell hixon step up more then he did when smith went down......and he damn sure is not helping cam as a wr, there's no room for him here.

Smith at this point in his career talent wise is a #3 or 2 at best, and we're using him as a 1, think about that, that's how bad our WR core is, only unit close to being that bad would be the O-line(ton of injuries though) and our Patch work CB's(which have been passable most of the season)

WR is by far the weakest part of this team. imagine this team with GB or Denver quality around on offense.

I don't want him back.  We need two starting wide receivers.  I can only see us keeping Smith and Ginn.  Smith should be the slot and Ginn is a 4th/return specialist.  I see no reason to spend anything on the guy.  Plus he smells of Hurney.

If you look at the film, that pass was not meant for Lafell. Lafell reached back and tipped the ball going for another WR. If you also look at most of his catches, as soon as he makes a catch he heads for the sideline leaving several yards he could have made on the field. He should be let go. Hixon is a veteran and should have been used more.

Like I said even before the season began: we have seen LaFell's ceiling.  No more pipe-dreams people. He is what he is, and it's past time that the doubters about that face reality.  Now, you can argue about whether or not he is a number three or four, but I want the WRs who are consistently on the field to have more upside than what LaFell has brought to the table.  I'm all for paying him around $800000 per year as insurance, but I wouldn't pay him much more than that. If some other team does, then so be it. His service's are not that difficult to replace.

For that matter, getting paid 1.2 mil per year for one big catch is highway robbery. Hixon can go the way of LaFell.

I saw how in other games the receivers made plays for their QB.  There were so many players who got behind coverage in every game.  Players were jumping to make catches, diving to make catches, and selling out for catches.  Smitty did that in his prime, but there hasn't been a highlight catch this year.  We didn't have any receivers in the top 40.  YAC was nonexistent.  Lafell would be a good 3-4 receiver, or situational when we're running, but Cam deserves better.

Davis, Crabtree and Boldin made plays for Kap's imperfect passes yesterday.  He just had to get it close to them.  Where he made overthrows, or throws that could've been in the dirt, his receivers turned them into completions.

We need playmakers.  We have zero playmakers who must be gameplanned for.  Imagine our defense playing against our offense.  We would laugh at getting beat by anyone other than Cam.

I could let Donald go. And any guys who can't offer more then one facet to our team. There are plenty of talented guys out there who can block, run great routes and have reliable hands.

I'm tired of our team being so content to keep players who can only do one facet of their position. Waste of roster space in my opinion.
