Leading Rushers for the Game

Delhommey

Recommended Posts

Gore getting decent gains on 1st downs are what kept the opening drive in the second half going. Meanwhile we got a couple of 2.5 yard carries , a hurried throw, and a punt.

Cam was our leading rusher cause our RB's are useless.

Gore pretty much did the same thing in the first game. However when it was time for pass defense, the secondary had no answer for Boldin and they did not pressure Kaepernick at all. In the first game Kaepernick couldn't breathe, and when they were able to do the same thing until the second quarter was closing the Niners offense had to settle for field goals off turnovers.

I would wait for the 2015 draft and take Todd Gurley. He has the rare combination of size, strength, and speed. I think the offensive line is more of an issue. A lot of times i see Williams already having defenders grabbing at his feet before he reaches the line of scrimmage.

2015 has a much better class for RB's, but there will be value this year as well.

SF - Gore - 17 for 84 yards

Car - Newton - 10 for 54 yards

Yeah I agree we need WR's, but that wasn't the offensive difference in this game. If we had Gore and they had Williams, I'm comfortable saying we would have been in it till the end if not won outright.

Our best runners are currently our QB and our FB.

Gettleman, I don't know how, but you've got to upgrade the backs.

been saying this all night

we need rb s that are young healthy hungry and without huge contracts

like the rest of the NFL has

Yeah turns out it's not easy to play perfect D for 2 games against a top 4 team. Even in the other game, we got a few fortunate drops.

We were having to pass for all short yardage, which lead once to a turnover and several times to a punt. Can't be that one dimensional, especially without top WR's.

Reality.

Dwill had a 3 yard run on 1st down

Dwill had a 3 yard run on 2nd down.

Cam incomplete pass

Punt

Gore had a 4 yard run on 1st down.

Kap passed for a 1st down

Gore ha d a 6 yard run on 1st down.

Gore had a 3 yard run on 2nd down.

Kap ran for a 1st down.

Kap hits a 45 yard bomb on 1st down.

Gore fumbles, 2 yard loss on 1st down

Kap runs it in for a Touch Down

What we learned here:

49er defense gets off the field on 3rd down

Gore kept the defense honest. He wasn't dominating. This is more about the fact that the 49ers get better value out of him. They pay much less money to Gore and whatever motley crew they slapped together to spell him, while we pay a significant amount more to our gimmicky tandem that everyone can't help but to fawn over because San Fran knows how much to invest at that position. Hurney didn't. But going forward for the next few years the contract extensions we gave these guys will continue to be white elephants so unless we can find some value at a minimum cost somewhere to maybe give us some explosiveness, a lot of other positions need to be upgraded first.

This is completely about Marty Hurney (and current ownership) and has nothing to do with present Coaching Staff or Management.

Once Getts can rid the Panthers of these contracts he will, for the 5243rd time.

2013

Frank Gore 4.1 YPC

D Williams 4.2 YPC

49ers 137.6 YPG rushing

Panthers 126.6 YPG rushing

Not including rushing TD's I see.

Today when San Fran needed a tough, grind it out drive in the 2nd half, they used their RB. We had to put our QB in danger running the ball to try to answer.

2.6 yards a carry today. Yeah, RB's an issue.

DWill aint our short yardage/goal line RB, you know that.

That would be Tolbert of course

Gore, Kap and Hunter, 16 TDs on the ground

Dwill, Tolbert and Cam. 14 TDs on the ground

Now JStew's contract is the real problem here. but Marty Hurney has already been canned.

DWill had 5 rushing opportunities today, yes some of the Coaching staff is a joke.

    • For the silly people that worship her it will be that.  The Coleman 'legend' thing, they did that with another fairly average player that was here and I sort of mocked or questioned the 'legend' status. Instantly caught crap for insulting someone's favorite Panther. So okay, Kurt Coleman is a Legend.
    • You allow him to compete--you all are talking as if I am proposing making him the starter. Give him a new coach, new weapons, good OL, etc. and see what happens. You are saying, "Well Damn.  It did not work for 3 guys..."  Right now, our C is injured, we lost our top 2 WRs.  Better question:  If you need a QB, Why would you not take a chance on bringing in a QB who was a former first rounder, a good arm, intelligence, mobility, youth, etc.  and see how he does out of NY--with a better OL, better running game, better receivers.  I am not saying give him a 10-year contract, I am saying give him a chance. You act like there is no improvement on offense here--it was a 2 year process, and next year is year 2.  To me, how can you sit there with Bryce and an opportunity to sign a veteran QB on the cheap comes available and you say--"Not us. We're good.  We are waiting for Patrick Mahommes."  Jone's problem is obviously mental--and he has little support.  Why is this so frigging hard to comprehend.  It is called "bottom fishing" and it is better than sitting in the boat.
    • I think we're going to fall from behind quite early and be forced to abandon the run game.  3 rushes -2 yards 1 catch -10 yards
