If smith wants to be in the slot and the team doesn't have a #2 Wr, doesn't it stand to reason that the team needs a #1 caliber Wr as well as a #2 Wr plus youth at the position? That's big spending in fa or a few early picks at Wr.

Welker was Brady's #1 WR two years ago and was a slot WR.

#1 WR has nothing to do with he position.

But, I do agree that we need an X wr

You guys are dreaming if you think we're going to go after any of the Top 5 free agent WR unless we manage to convince Nicks to take below market value to sign here. That goes double if we sign Hardy. We simply don't have the cap flexibility to get that done. The competition for free agent WR is getting so competitive because it's a passing league now. We don't have the money to overpay somebody.
