2014 WR Free Agents

I doubt we get anyone that's really good because we are cash strapped and other teams will spend big.

That's exactly right. We are in a similar situation as last off season. Unless we let Hardy walk, expect to have WR/DBs that are 3-5 trying to play 1-2 under a year or so contract.

Ginn, Edelman, and Nicks. Postpone WR for another year. Fix the line in the draft. Best LT in 1st. A safety (mikell is old and I'm not too sold on Lester although I love the upside) or corner in the second. Then look to CB/double dip OT in 3rd.

Have to move on from Deangelo this off-season. Despite the Cap ramifications we need that contract off the books moving forward.

fug no. We've postponed this for way to long. We need to start doing what every other team does for their young QB. Get him weapons to throw to.

I simply meant postpone taking one in the 1st another year. You don't think adding Nicks and Edleman wouldnt help to bolster the offense? I would love to find a young stud to work with cam but there are priorities. Protecting your franchise QB is number 1. Do you know who our LT is next season? Gross' contract is up. Bell is garbage. Fixing the line and giving Cam time would do wonders for this offense.

I thought Tate was an RFA and Baldwin was a UFA for the Seahawks? I must have had it turned around.

Either way:

Maclin (injuries worry me here)

Sanders (Very enticing)

Decker

G. Tate

Cooper

Cotchery (Cheaper and reliable vet.  Think he'd be a great 1-2 year contract)

Edelman

Most of the attractive names will be re-signed, with the exception of Hakeem and maybe Kenny Britt--both have reps as head cases.  I think they need a change of scenery.

This draft is LOADED at WR.  Think Keenan Allen.  I think Car123 said it best--a veteran and a rookie.  If we let this draft slip by without grabbing a rookie WR, we are fools.  I

As for Lafell--he is occupying a spot in our offense where a true weapon should be playing.  He should be our 4th WR at best. I would re-sign Ginn as our 3rd WR and KR, I would move Smitty to the Slot, and I would bring in a vet and draft a rookie.  I would not even re-sign Lafell.

Forget Mike Evans, Kelvin Benjamin, and Sammy Watkins--they will be gone when we pick.  However,  there are several WRs who rival last year's first rounders and some will still be on the board thorugh the third round.  I see the following as possible  gems:

Marquis Lee, USC (late first)

Allen Robinson, Penn St.(late first-2nd))

Devante Adams, Fresno St. (Early 2nd)

Odell Beckham Jr, LSU (Late first-second)

Jordan Matthews, Vandy (2nd)

Donte Moncrief, Ole Miss (2nd)

Jarvis Landry LSU (2-3)

Mike Davis Tex (3-4)

Jared Abbrederis Wisc (3-4)

Devin Street Pitt (4-5)

Realistically, I would love to see a stud OL in the first and someone like Moncrief or Beckham in the second.  Note some of these players who had bad QBs and teams in college--they managed to shine.  Mike Davis, Jordan Matthews come to mind.  Landry and Beckham Jr had to split balls, but they are both solid and different types of WRs.  I would love Beckham.

Brandon Coleman Rutgers (4)

Mike Davis Tex (3-4)

Paul Richardson Col (4)

For me, I hope one of Riley Cooper, Hakeem Nicks, Jeremy Maclin or Emmanuel Sanders is a Panther next year. Cooper (6'3", 220, 27 years old) is my preference due to his build and age, but I'd be happy with any of these four. I truly think putting Nicks back in his hometown and looking for redemption after two crappy years will yield better results than a lot of people believe, and cheaper. Decker would also be ideal, but he is too expensive. Boldin is too old/expensive, Golden Tate and Kenny Britt are punks, and Domenik Hixon couldn't get in the lineup enough. I suppose Cotchery, James Jones or Manningham would do, but they, IMO are fringe #2's at best.

Gettleman talks about needing big men but he knows what players like cruz, nicks, manningham did for eli. He will def be picking wr in the early rounds.(Hopefully 1st round)

Only reason I would be interested in Decker is for his wife being around ::: jessie-james-and-eric-decker-2.jpg

In terms of who I would want one name that isn't mentioned often is James Jones from the Packers.  Guy is a nice deep threat.

Nicks for a cheap "Prove it" contract.

Same for Britt, but cheaper.

Maclin would be a very solid 1.5 WR, I don't know if he can be a #1.
