Not just a new OC, but a new system is needed.

I'm all for upgrading the WR position, but as far as an offensive system goes I would add hog mollies and build a dominant rushing attack. The other side of the coin are the fans who want a lot of weapons for Cam and have him throw more.

Cam wasn't exactly playing "lights" in a lot of games this season, but it's not a black or white situation. It's grey. The WRs made some plays, and Cam made some. We certainly don't need to go game by game and list what happened. I think we agree.

In games Cam wasn't carrying the team the defense was. I can't think of a single game where one offensive player (other than Cam) took over or made any lasting mark. Cam is pretty much our entire offense, and without him on the field I imagine things would look pretty grim.

Who will we even have next year at WR? Smith and who? Ginn is a number three, who will be our number one and two? What happens the year after when Smith retires? If we don't invest in our WR core this year we're as good as fuged. Though on offensive philosophy, I think our loss yesterday proved that we need a more aggressive attack.

Right now we can't comeback down two scores late in the game. Even leading time of possession yesterday we were no where close to winning. Ground and pound just doesn't cut it these days unless you happen to play almost flawless on defense or are playing an inept offense. It's the reason why we were blown out by the Saints and almost lost to the Dolphins. The eight minute "comeback" drive says it all.

With Cam dancing and needing 20 seconds in the pocket to throw a hard high one that bounces off of the receiver's fingertips for the INT, then I will expect this same criticism next year no matter who we have at  OL or WR. We do however need a new OC. Otherwise just save this thread for next year and rerun it.

If we could only build our defense around Cam.

In my opinion we need to upgrade the WR position because Smith and Lafell are too slow, and at Smith's age injures are more likely to occur (opinion). In the system I described, we would be throwing deep bombs out of play action pass to Ginn and new WRs. However smash mouth running would be the focus of the offense, with deep shots mixed in to take advantage of the cannon Cam has for an arm, while still limiting the number of passes overall.

tolbert pulled our fat out of the fire a few times.  he's about the closest on offense.

On that throw. I think it was actually meant for Olsen. After the play it looked like Olsen was getting onto Lafell for tipping the ball. Either way the play design itself was just dumb, putting that many receivers so close together. It might have been PI if Lafell wouldn't have tipped the ball, and the play design had not bunched the receivers together.

Oh no Tolbert is our one offensive playmaker besides Cam and the aging Smith. Though our OC doesn't seem to game plan with him in mind. Sometimes not even utilizing him at all.

Are we moving Cam to DE now?

Notice a similar play that went to smith with Olsen in the area. If it were Lafell there he would have jumped up and tipped it. But Olsen wisely didn't touch it

I didn't read through the 15 pages so I apologize if this has already been discussed but would Norv Turner be a realistic option?

Apparently Norv was super pissed at the Chud firing and is not expected to return.

Norv and Rivera together in SD had the #1 offense and the #1 defense.

The identity was a near miss.  We need to have a true power run game, with the ability to run an up tempo offense.  I hate to say this....but we need to draft a running back in the 2nd round.  I see us signing OL in FA.

lol running back in the 2nd. lmao boy you just gave me my laugh for today

unless we magically can get rid of stewart without hurting the cap.

keep dreaming bud
