Not just a new OC, but a new system is needed.

It was a good year overall to be a Panther fan. I didn't like the outcome of the game obviously, and everyone around me was talking about those BS calls by the refs. However, it was fun to get out and do something like that after being a hermit for the last 4 months. Looking forward to going to at least 3 games next year. BTW, is it usually that big of a cluster *** after the game? Took me 2 hours to get home and it's only about 25 miles

It's difficult with Shula because I normally would hate getting rid of a guy after his first season who had a banged up OL (with the worst right side in the history of OLs) and a substandard WR corps.  History can't be ignored though and he has a history of his offenses just disappearing without reason and failing to adjust to what's required of him.

I think it's very possible that if Rivera is extended (he should be) we are hiring a new OC.

It's also fairly possible that with a better WR corps we aren't having this discussion at all...rather we're talking about the stubborn efficiency of our offense.

Personally I don't buy the "Cam needs consistency" argument that some people will make.

You keep bringing up yards over efficiency but that's my not argumentative point here. Shula simply runs an offense that is slow and poorly managed. I'm fine with converting third downs but my issue with Shula's offense is that he can't get Cam and the boys down the field in a limited time span. There's a reason why it's called a two-minute offense and not a 10-minute offense.

You're right, there were missed opportunities but that doesn't excuse Shula from 5 yard passes and run draws in the fourth quarter.

We have had several two minute scores this season. Some before half and 4 at the end of games.

What are you talking about?

If you guys are talking about the 8 minute drive without a score, when you are down 10 early in the fourth you don't have to suddenly go nu huddle or chuck the ball down field.

You have 3 timeouts, you just need a score. Preferably a TD. That didn't happen. But if Cam had about a half a second more time there was a WR wide open down field to his left. But he either didn't have time to get there or he took to long on his progression.

Like i said slowest offense i have seen in a long time and you have the most dynamic player at QB in the league. No excuse for it.

Yeah, it would help Panthers if the offense played faster at times, ran a 2 min, as well as a no huddle offense when they needed to and for variety.

That third Qtr 8 min drive was horrendous, whether the Panthers scored or not. I was clueless as to what Shula was doing at that point, needing two scores, and a quick stop of San Francisco. SMH

Agreed.

Many of us have wondered all year, "why doesn't Shula incorporate this offense more often"? And "Why do the Panthers have to wait until they HAVE TO run their 2 min offense  (last few minutes of games they're losing)?

I agree with the new system. We have good talent on offensive but it seems they are not living up to their potential. I will blame that on coaching/system.

If you look at our offensive

Cam - top 10 qb , playmaker , secondary rb, great weapon

Greg olsen - is in the 2nd tier of TE below gronk graham davis

Best full back in tolbert

Great RBs

Half the Oline is great-probowl - Kalil Wharton Gross

Smith is good

The only thing it lacks is an elite WR and half an Oline

It really comes down to drafting the best available player who is OL or WR at our position.
