he certainly hasnt done anything to deserve a long term deal, that much is obvious. but you also dont wanna make him feel lame duck either.

two years is probably right. perhaps three just so it looks like you're committed. i'd imagine there won't be very much financial committment up front so we can fire him without much backlash if his teams look like they have for most of his tenure here already.
