Based solely on today's loss.

We need a RG and RT. Chandler and Bell should not be starting next season. We were unable to run the ball and take pressure off Cam and we became one dimensional. Also we need better receivers. Cam has to constantly throw through tight windows to complete a pass. Panthers should not resign Lafell, we can easily replace his production from some WR on a stacked team just waiting for an opportunity. Secondary needs a makeover. Melvin White, Josh Thomas, Drayton Florence, and Captain Munnerlyn should be 4th string DBs on other teams.

Based solely on today's loss, what do you think is our biggest need in the off season?

Here is how I break it down.

The weakness at receiver was not as evident today.  I'm not even sure I remember any drops in this game.  Smith, Lafell, Ginn and Olsen all seemed to make plays today.

Not sure I'd blame Cam's sack on any of our guards or tackles.  Cam had plenty of time and it was our blocking backs and tight ends that could not hold their man.

I'm looking at our corners as our most glaring problem today.  Constantly were beat all day.  Kapernick didn't even have to scramble to make plays to his receivers.  Just straight up got beat.

And as many have said our play calling on offense is wanting.

I watched this game objectively and here is my opinion. The Panthers' defense was a step behind the 49ers Offense and the Offense was once again, ALL Cam.

Here is what I think this team needs to do...Go out and get some real viable receivers and RBs for this QB and fix your FUGGING O-LIne. Cam should be able to sit in the pocket and throw a ball. The damn kid can't because as soon as the ball is snap, the opposing team's defenses is in his face. Even worst is the Receivers on this team have hard time getting open.

I watched all of the play-off games, and just as I suspected, the weakness of this offense was going to comeback and bite them and it did. You have Running-backs who can't help your QB move the chain on the ground. You have Receivers who don't seem to know how to get open or open fast enough for the QB to realize they are open. And, you have an O-line that seems to break down as soon as the ball is snapped, which gives your QB no time to survey the field for open receivers. Sadly, the reason why none of this becomes a big issue with the Panthers is because those in the media don't give a fug about the team and all they are interested in is seeing Cam fail.

As an outsider, I honestly believe if this team want to compete in play-offs and eventual SBs, they have to stop making it all about one guy on the offense and they have to continue to keep the defense sharp.

I think our WR's do well for what they are. I think Ginn is a valuable player. But I'm not sure there is room for LaFell to grow anymore. We needed him to become a dominant player. I love Greg Olsen.

I think what you say about CB's is very true and it might end up being a top choice in the draft but I think 2 things we need to do right away is make our o-line a more dominant unit and bring in new WR's. I firmly believe we are taking one 1st round.

We have to find a way to help our defense.

I can also see us drafting another pass rusher.

    • True.  Sam and Baker did not do well here but went on to better things under better coaching, circumstances or both.  The real question is, ‘why aren’t the Panthers able to get improved performance out of ‘broken toys’, similar to Minnesota and Tampa? That is a rhetorical question.  I think we know the answer.   [The cultural reference to Pogo dates me, I admit.]
    • Did I mention that he was on worse teams?  Yes.  Do QBs alone win games?  No.  Did Cam, on a much better team with some awesome defenses ever have 2 consecutive winning seasons?  No.  So now you are cherry picking,  If the overall stats are similar, you take a look at him.   I told you that you look at his skill set---but you wanted to tell me that he sucks and mentioned performance.  I just presented performance--and his numbers are very similar to Cam Newton's numbers--a player most call the best Panther QB ever--and I agree.  By the way, Fumbles are evidence of how bad his OL has been--so you are saying that a QB in a situation worse than Cam's who has stats and physical abilities very similar to Cam's should not be given a look when you have Bryce Young at QB?  You are going with that story because you simply talked your way into a corner and now you are trying to save face.  No good GM would do what you suggest because "he sucks."  Sorry, but the facts do not support you.  But no matter what eye-opening details I provide, there are some who are going to go their Google machines to try to find some reason to support an ignorant approach to developing the QB position.  You ignored the similarities to Cam and went cherry picking.  I know what you are doing--but I am only suggesting (as I have stated before) that we bring him in as one of three approaches to resolving the QB issue. Compete with Bryce and draft a QB. Basically, I am suggesting that Jones has the potential to replace Dalton and compete with Young.  He is a battered stock that could get better in a better situation--that is human nature.  Instead, I am called a Daniel Jones lover and superfan.  That is good debate--But a real sign of mature thinking is the inability to LOGICALLY consider alternative perspectives--which is actually a characteristic of intelligence.  Just so you know, I critique and perform research in my job.  I am often amazed at how the numbers do not support my suppositions.  I learned that my impression is often wrong until I look at the data.  In this case, I have considered all the important variables and he should get a shot.  Numbers don't lie--and when you and others resort to twisted name calling directed toward the poster--it verifies my position.
    • I don’t get this, I know that is the popular thought process but I just don’t think it’s true.  For instance head to head last year the ACC had a winning record against the SEC.  The SEC had a losing record in bowl games. This year so far the head to head is 2-3 SEC and that’s with a fluke Vandy win in week one.  I see the ACC taking another head to head winning season after next week.  The SEC is mostly hype with 3 good teams, in my opinion.  But to say any ACC team would get exposed I believe is a stretch
