Ironically, his statement yesterday that he had a setback changed the betting patterns in a lot of sports books.

89 said today he wasn't  goofing around about the setback.

 

I think 89 will be largely a decoy.  They will probably limit his routes and hope he can draw typical coverage.

To a bit of a random note, the video that pops up on the NFL.com article for this shows Jeff Garcia, former Niners and Bucs QB, calling Cam the better quarterback, and Eric Davis, former Niners and Panthers cornerback, picking the game for the Niners. How is that not biased, exactly? Eric Davis is no Panthers homer.

Typical coverage for Smith this year is single man coverage and a single high safety for all the receivers.  With his knee injury he will probably see the same but they will bump him at the line to test his knee.  So I don't see how Smith can be a decoy since no team this year has moved a lot of coverage to him.

well, he doesn't get old school coverage.  He tends to get the better players more often on him.  

 

LaFell pretty much said he can't do poo in 89's role b/c of the different coverage that spot in our O gets.
