Panthers win the toss and defer Sunday.

No way should the Panthers ask for the ball first if they win the toss.

1. As much as the crowd has improved, there is less than 0 chance they will be quiet on the opening drive no matter who is on the field. It is just asking too much for them to be quiet. Let San Fran have the ball and hopefully the crowd can get it out of their system as they go three and out.

2. Panthers have played better in the second half as of late. Getting the ball after halftime gives us a better shot at scoring.

Definitely. Obviously want to force a 3 and out out of the gate, but more importantly, it sets you up going into halftime if you get the ball last before the half and can get points. Come back out, get more. I'm anticipating a defensive battle for AT LEAST the first half, so that could be a really critical point swing if we could pull it off.

    • Karlaftis and Danna have been pretty inconsistent so teams have been doubling Jones and able to contain their pass rush.   But the good thing is that yesterday, we schemed well against Steve Spags Defense, Canales married the surrounding personnel with his QB through play designs within his comfort zone and was able to get downfield at will.  He was able to execute higher difficulty throws and look a lot more comfortable.  It tells me that Canales has a good system in mind, and had an edge gameplanning wise against Spagnuolo - which is nice to see.  It's a bit to see-saw at times with either going way too pass heavy or way too run heavy, but I think he's finding out what works.  It takes time to have it come together, and sure, I could see regression happen against a better front-7, but this was good for the entire system gelling.
    • This was evident first two weeks of season. I don’t see any issues with physical tools since he came back. I think he is a player that must play with confidence to overcome those size limitations and he’s doing that.
    • Still 3-10 on passes over 15 yards.  At least he's not scared to merely attempt them anymore.  Where I see improvement is the 10-15 yard range.  He was 6-6.  Bryce of old was scatter shot on anything beyond 10 yards and the further out, the worse the accuracy.
