Bay Area Writer: Kaepernick One-Read QB, Cam Actually Reads Defenses

Well, I highly doubt you are connected to the same inner circle I happen to partake in.

Furthermore I have a deep qualm conceptualizing you with season tickets at the stick, these past 27 games, since young Colin had taken the reigns.

I bid you good day, sir.

You are correct, I don't have season tickets this year. But -- based on your view that a cabal of reporters is out to undermine Kaep -- I guarantee I have a better hold on reality and niner knowledge than you. Unless you are trolling.

PS: Paying money for season tickets doesn't make you a bigger fan.

Get outta here with that BS.   OK yeah we should have drafted Kap because of his superior wonderlic score.  Seriously can you be that dumb????

CK is reportedly a smart guy. That is true. At some point, the coaches are going to have to throw him in the deep end to see if he sinks or swims. Chances are, he will get better at the intricacies as his experience and responsibilities grow.

Cam had an "advantage" that Colin didn't. He came into a team with low expectations, so the coaches could afford to take some lumps while teaching Cam the finer points of QB'ing. Colin came to a winning team and replaced a winning QB, so the emphasis was on winning, not on developing his skill set.

That said, Cam's desire to be great and his willingness to do whatever it takes to continually improve are what sets him apart from many of his peers. Not everyone has those particular characteristics.

What Cam is doing now is equivalent to undergraduate work. Once his understanding of the game catches up with his physical abilities, look out NFL. Colin may progress rapidly too, but no one will know for sure until the coaches take off his training wheels.

Ryan Fitzpatrick destroyed the Wonderlic and went to Harvard. What's your point?

When we drafted Colin we had just come off a losing season, so Colin didn't come into a winning team.

Also, did the Packers not not emphasize teaching Rodgers when Favre was still their? Did Walsh not emphasize teaching Young when we had Montana?

I really don't think teams fail to properly teach backup QBs because they have a winning record.

I'm not OP but people were claiming Colin is stupid. He just pointed out that Colin is book smart, very book smart. How this relates to the game.... not too much.

So my question to the Niner fans roaming around...would you take Cam over Colin?

From my observations, this board seems to believe Colin is significantly worse than Cam. I don't believe this to be true. I think they are very even. I like Cam's completion percentage / more TDs, but colin throws less INTS/ INT % and has a better QB rating.

People criticize Colin's progressions (which he needs a lot of help in), but he has started only 23 games compared to Cam's 48 --- that's more than a whole regular season's worth. Also, Colin has shown he can play well in the post season, home and away. Cam may prove this but it is an unknown.

Ultimately, their stats are very similar and the players are very close. I don't think either is significantly better than the other.

this is spot on about CK.

9ers can't afford to take the lumps with CK because their Super Bowl window is NOW.

He's gonna have to learn (i think he is fully capable) to grow into what we want Cam to eventually become. But Cam is much, much farther than CK developmentally.

If you hat it your way you would kidnap Cam in a heart beat.

Cam is putting up better stats with a significantly worse supporting cast

Kaep has v.davis, crabtree, boldin, manningham? and a top 5 o-line

Cam is several tiers better than Kaep

Blame it on Harbaugh

Manningham only played a few games and didn't recover from his ACL surgery so we put him on IR. Crab missed 2/3rd of the regular season, so Colin didnt have most of these weapons for most of the season.

However, is Cam "several tiers" above Kaep? What do you base this on... you say his stats are better, but that isn't obvious. Their stats are mostly identical. What makes Cam so much better than Colin?
