Steve Letarte to leave Hendrick Motorsports at the end of 2014

Steve has decided to join Rick Allen & Jeff Burton at NBC Sports in 2015 as an announcer to exclusive race coverage of the Nationwide & Sprint Cup series. Leaving Dale Jr as crew chief and Hendrick Motorsports after 18 yrs of service.

Good for him..it seems like its what he wanted to do, he still gets his fix by being at the track but he will also get more time at home with the family.

Dale Jr. at Hendrick before Letarte:

2008: 12th in points

2009: 25th in points

2010: 21st in points

 

Dale Jr. at Hendrick with Letarte:

2011: 7th in points

2012: 12th in points (missed 2 races due to injury)

2013: 5th in points

 

I would suggest they hire Ron Malec from the 48 to be his CC, but hell will freeze over before Jimmie's team gets touched. Engineer Kevin Meendering is who I would say is the likely choice. He's been working with Junior and Letarte for years now.
