Week 10 Defense vs Playoff Defense

Recommended Posts

We handled offenses like the Saints and Patriots....the SF offense isn't even in the same league as those two.

The Saints are a garbage road team that beat up on a Philly team that was in the playoffs by default (someone had to win the NFC East). If I remember you got blown out in the dome. Saints won against the Niners at the dome in a close one that was decided by a tear in the refs eye on the Bowman sack/fumble.

I seem to remember a controversial call at the end of that game with NE when Gronk was held in the end zone.

NE is not the New England of old, That team has been running on bare bones. They also lost to scrubs like Cincinatti, Jets and Miami.

A homer fan? Because i think having playoff experience vs a team who doesnt being an advantage, that makes me a homer? There is nothing soft about a team who has 'been there' playing a team who hasnt. I didnt say it would influence the outcome of the game. It's as much as an advantage for the 49ers as carolina playing at home is for them. Neither of those two factors will probably end up influencing who wins, but both clearly offer advantages in given situations. Most noteably because the playoffs are a whole other animal compared to the regular season, and the 49ers have a bunch of guys who already know. That's all that is, and that offers an advantage, whether you agree or not. If NFL players are saying it, i will go with them over what you say on here.

Hanging out on another team's message board is the definition of pathetic and sad.

Speaking if the teams we beat......we beat that Niners ass in YOUR house.

Run along now...don't you have a glory hole to service.

Vernon Davis was KNOCKED out of the week 10 game by physical play by the Panthers defense, it's not like he pulled a hammy or something. Same for Eric Reid just about getting KTFO by Tolbert. They should have had a fumble recovery too, if not for that ref's contention that a catch, turn and two strides did not constitute a football move.

The Panthers were more physical, even after the trip out west. They have only one home loss this season, by 5 points to the 1st seed in the NFC.

I think the physical play will only be intensified this weekend and if the Panthers offense avoids going full retard, I think they can hold off the Niners.

Yeah I seem to remember Cincy giving SD the business during the season, how did that turn out last week?  Your 1 point win two months ago doesn't mean jack squat to this weekend's game except to homer Madhatter.

Davis was knocked out when his head hit the ground falling after a attempted catch. It had nothing to do with your defense. Sorry no cigar.

This team has a 1-0 playoff record. They beat the Packers. Last year's team was just that- last year's team.

This team is chock full of guys that have been through the playoffs this, last , and the year before. So it does count, as there are only a small handful of guys in their first playoffs vs carolina who the majority this is their very first game.  You dont have to like it or agree, but it counts.

Lucky for carolina, he was hurt and couldnt play the rest of the game.  You cant bank on that happening again. You also cant bank on Reid being out either.   So now there are 4 really solid players in this playoff game that werent in week 10.  Clearly the 49ers are going to be significantly better sunday than they were week 10.

Its okay to have confidence but it sounds like you think the panthers will just be more physical, the offense will not be retarded, and they can hold them off.  SO, like, the 49ers offense and defense will have a bad game and they wont step up?

Using that Kaepernick logic I see: "It's not that they played great, it's that we played poorly." What I'm saying is that the Panthers will cause the 49ers offense and defense to have a bad game and won't allow them to step up. If they want to give the Panthers an assist and 'beat themselves' again it wouldn't hurt my feelings.

Nobody mentions this but the 49ers have a bit of an advantage as they are a playoff hardened team.  This is the third year in a row that a vast majority of this team has won in the playoffs, so they know what it takes, and have the confidence of a team who has already been there.  Now not to say carolina will be pissing down their leg, but that the 49ers are just more seasoned and preparead for this situation.  Doesnt mean carolina wont play tough though, as the 49ers in their first playoffs in nearly a decade went to the NFCC.   But, this could make a real difference, the mentality of the 49ers.

correct me if I'm wrong, but didnt your 2011 team beat some experienced playoff teams along the way to the NFCG after being absent from the playoffs for like 10 years or so?  i dont think it's that much more of an advantage but i get why so many people put an emphasis on it.
