Tyler Vagyler's Mock Offseason v2.0

Resign:

- Greg Hardy

- Mike Mitchell

- Ted Ginn Jr

- Graham Gano

- Captain Munnerlyn

- Chris Scott

- Jordan Senn

- Colin Cole

- Derek Anderson

That does seem like a long list but most of these guys will be cheap. Greg Hardy will get what he deserves while Mitchell will get a decent contract as well. Ginn is a must resign due to his contributions on STs and increased catching skills. I know a lot of people hate seeing Captain's name on this list but truth is, he's a solid nickel corner. Hopefully we're able to bring in a few names so he isn't in our top pairing though.

Free Agents:

Golden Tate, WR

We won't have the money to make a huge splash in free agency but we do need to add weapons for the offense. Tate could be a nice bang-for-your-buck player. He's put up solid numbers in Seattle and could fit nicely with Cam. His height worries me but hopefully we'll be able to draft a bigger WR.

Major Wright, SS

Mitchell will stay at FS but I don't see us bringing back Mikell due to age. Wright would be a great option and not too expensive. With Wright at SS and Mitchell at FS, we would have a very hard hitting, aggressive safety duo.

Corey Graham, CB

Baltimore is still in a rough spot with their salary cap and I think Graham could be had. With it being a somewhat thin CB class his price tag might creep up but he could be a nice get on the cheap side.

NFL Draft:

Round 1: Jordan Matthews, WR

Jordan-Matthews.jpg

He has size, speed, route running ability, and good hands. Everything you could ask for in a WR. As long as his 40-time is alright I have no problem taking him at the end of round 1. He will most likely be the best WR available and the drop off into round 2 is pretty noticeable.

Round 2: Loucheiz Purifoy, CB

Right now, he is projected anywhere from early 2nd to early.  Hopefully he's around on the latter of that projection. Purifoy has decent size and great speed and plays with a great tenacity. Also shows ability to blitz the QB which could be cool in our scheme.

Round 3: Donte Moncrief, WR

He didn't quite live up to the high expectations set for him at Ole Miss but Moncrief is a tall WR with speed to match. Definitely shows big play ability and would be a nice duo for the future with Matthews.

Round 4: James Hurst, OT

He was once projected as a first round pick but with a broken leg taking him down in the Belk Bowl, Hurst could drop significantly.  Especially if he is unable to make the combine (which I think he will). If Hurst slips all the way to our 4th round pick, it'd be a no-brainer. I might even take him in the 3rd if Moncrief isn't there.

Round 5: AJ Tarpley, LB

There is nothing wrong with loading up on LBers. Luke and Davis are awesome together but Davis is getting old and won't be around much longer. AJ Klein has proven he has the potential to be a great starter beside Luke and Tarpley could be a nice option on the other side. A solid, well-rounded season at Stanford (87 tackles, 5 for loss, 1 FF, 1 INT, 1 sack, 2 passes batted).

(I don't think we have a 6th round pick)

I don't know enough about this draft to do the 7th round....

Gave you a Pie'd bc I love the Golden Tate addition. The guy is clutched and should be have at a cheaper price compared to the rest.

I just cant see us making all of those additions (Wright/Graham) though, even after say cutting Dwill/Stew and Godfrey due to Hardy's big pay check. But, never say never. Some guys might take a cheap 1 yr deal to come play for a winning team like ours.

But, if just playing with your mock, I would much rather go OT in the 1st vs. Matthews. OT is a priority especially after your additions of Tate (WR), Wright (S), and Graham (CB).

I'd go more like this:

(1) OT
(2) WR

(3) CB

(4) OT / WR

But, glad you brought up Tate's name. Was a huge fan of his since his Norte Dame's days.
