Redskins sign Gettis to future contract

I really believe that Gettis ended up in Rivera's dog house because he was just still rusty from sitting out due to injury. Rivera perceived that Gettis was either lazy, incompetent, or both. Rivera lost patience with Gettis. Once he was in Rivera's dog house (that night we saw Rivera fussing him out on the sidelines last season), that was it.  The effort guy with little proven production and no intangibles, as well as G-man's boy, got the nod over the more talented Gettis.

Rivera really laid an egg with that.

except that G-man's boy won us the nfc south championship single "handedly" with that catch.

Yeah, I'd have to give that title to Armanti.

Yeah I though about AE. That's why I said "perhaps."  I just don't believe that AE had the "love" that Gettis had after all was said and done. Gettis had all the measurables for the prototypical beast of a WR in the NFL, plus he peeked many Panthers fans interest with his solid rookie performance. There are a good amount of Panthers fans, not to mention Huddlers, who believe that we never got to see Gettis reach his ceiling, more-so than AE fans who may have thought the same about him. That's why there was such disappointment by many (and, no, I am not gonna link to the thread because that ship has sailed) when Gettis was dumped. Of course many perceived that Gettis was dumped in favor of an inferior AE for all practical purposes, so I guess in that sense, perhaps AE's status here became even more divisive. So, perhaps you're right.

Hixon ran a great route and made a nice catch. He didn't win it by himself, but he finally played a part thank goodness. I would like to think that Gettis could have done the same thing, and more. But, we'll never know.

That's your prerogative, but it sounds to me more like subjective hate than objective analysis. Even if you compare the year that Gettis was actually on the field with the Panthers to Hixon's first year, Gettis was way more productive (with Jimmy Clausen, no less). But, you are entitled to your opinion.

Not at all. Hixon made those kind of catches in his time with Giants. That's proven vs unproven. I've never had anything against gettis, ever. I've always wanted him to succeed and was his biggest fan during preseason. I'm trusting riveras decision particularly because we are so bad at the wr position that him wanting gettis gone has more to do with things we have no idea about. On the flip side all of the bitching and moaning when he got cut was laughable and completely misplaced.
