Charlotte Shopping Ben Gordon, Trying To Win Now (Other News)

Recommended Posts

Ummmm that makes no sense...

Why amnesty him (you still owe him his money and have to pay him his money) when you can get an expiring contract and actually save money.

While the trade may limit Zeller at first, in the long run it would help because he would get to learn from Boozer for the remainder of this year and next year then the Cats could let Boozer walk in free agency and let Zeller take over.

By the way... the Bulls are most likely getting that pick this year anyway.

As for trading Gordon for Pau... talks would not get far because we would have to add a contract for the salaries to match and I guarantee they would ask for MKG.

Have to tell that to all the sites talking about it. Either Grantland or ESPN is where I read it today, also saw it on Sporting News. Quick Google search shows ESPN and others reporting the rumor and Boozer even talking about it.

And yes they'd still have to pay him, but only some of that contract. Not all of it.

I don't understand that at all...

He will be on an expiring contract next year... why not just wait it out.

Gordon has barely played all year.. Pargo can step in for Sessions, and he can knock down the 3 to stretch the floor. more space for Al and Pau to work down low.

You really think we are a better team with Gordon and Sessions than we would be with Pau?

- Gordon has barely played all year because Sessions has been backing up Henderson (you just traded away Sessions)

- Pargo can back up Kemba, but Clifford said at the beginning of the year that he would never be caught without three point guards on the roster.

- So now we have no backup for Henderson and only two point guards... no guard depth

- Not to mention that you didn't look at this from the Lakers point of view who are guard heavy (when healthy) with Kobe Bryant, Steve Blake, Kendall Marshall, Jordan Farmar, Xavier Henry, Wesley Johnson, Jodie Meeks, Steve Nash, and Nick Young... throw Sessions and Gordon in there and 11 of their players would be guards... On top of this trade would leave them with 16 players... one over the limit.

I'd agree, but I guess they're just desperate to use it? And if they want to make a play at Lebron/FA X, they'll need the 8 or so million they'd save by using the amnesty on him.

Welp, that's what coming out of Chicago; to amnesty Boozer.

I really dont get this.

This deal is expiring and we are supposed to go after a legitimate player in FA.

Who could we possibly get at this point? The only player worth trading for that was on the market was Deng and he's now gone.

We are really holding ourselves back by ruining the future. First, we're losing our 2014 pick and now we are trying to trade the only contract worth anything?

Cho said early on in the rebuild that at no point would we make any desperation moves, this goes against that and it reek's of a Higgins move to me.
