Wide Receivers so far

Yup, saw quite a few fades he got in good position for.  I think it was Daniel Jeremiah that compared him to Keenan Allen, won't be as good as Allen but if he makes the same fall to a mid round I can see it being a great value pick, but he has good hands, decent speed, and polished route running.  Definitely someone to keep an eye on in the 3rd round.

There are enough WR's in this class that there will be multiple prospects falling to mid to late round value picks.

Got bored today and started checking out some other receiving stats for this class.  One of the biggest things for our offense has been redzone passing and targeting a big RZ threat that could be the next big step for this offense..  When we are 20 yards from the goal line, Cam threw 17 TDs to 3 INTs, within 10 yards he had 9 TDs and 0 INTs, now imagine that with an actual RZ target.  Which brings me to what I was looking up, WRs and their ability to convert in the RZ.  Of course you'll have to consider QB play (or lack thereof) and scheme when looking at these numbers, but interesting nonetheless.

For this I looked at their splits from 9 yards to the Goal and get a feel for how well they could convert in the RZ.

Sammy Watkins TD splits match up with his consistency to be a threat from anywhere, in Goal to Go situations, he caught 2 passes for 2 TDs.

Mike Evans - 4 catches, 3 TDs

Jordan Matthews - 3 catches, 1 TD.

Allen Robinson - 1 catch, 1 TD.

OBJ - 1 catch, 1 TD

Brandin Cooks -  12 catches, 8 TDs.

Davante Adams (led the nation in TD receptions) - 12 catches, 8 TDs

Kelvin Benjamins - 4 catches, 4 TDs

Brandon Coleman - 2 catches, 2 TDs.  Also of note, Coleman only had 4 TDs on the season, all 4 of them came within the opponents 20 yard line.

Obvious players that stand out, Cooks and Adams both with high catch and high TD numbers in the RZ, then KB and Coleman being the big bodied receivers that both did well converting every catch for a TD.

i just said that same thing about Adams, he is by far the best high point catcher in the draft to me. he attacks the ball like no other. every cut up i watched of Carr, Adams had a red zone TD in, and i watched like 10 games from 2012 and 2013. routes were either fades, screens, or slants.

I was watching I think the Nevada game, there was a nice throw by Carr to Adams in the endzone, just went above the DB to get the ball, ended up getting it knocked out, but showed great ability to get his body up their to high point it.  That and his concentration on the slants to seamlessly catch while in stride was just awesome.

Dude if we get like Robinson/Beckham in the 1st, an OL/CB/DE in the 2nd and he falls to us in the third, that'd be a quality scenario.  I'm excited to follow Devante through the draft season.

Thats what I'm thinking, OBJ and Robinson are pretty much 1A/1B for me right now.  Then in the 2nd target a Fuller, Mewhort, or Trent Murphy then get Adams in the 3rd.  Thats a helluva way to start out the draft.  Then round it out with an Arthur Lynch, Justin Ellis, Brandon Thomas, maybe even take a flyer on Seantrel Henderson.

We seem to have similar preferences in this year's prospects.  :thumbsu:

Jarvis Landry is my guy this year. I think he is the most pro ready wr in this draft (honorable mention to Lee). There's nothing to not like about this guy. He's physical, plays hard every down, he's got good speed, runs great routes and he's a good blocker. The best thing about him is that the guy catches everything. He plays with an intensity that reminds me of Smitty. I wouldn't be mad if we took him in round 1 to be honest.

I also like matthews but Landry seems like the more well rounded player.

Cody Hoffman WR 6'3 215 BYU

Had terrible QB's throwing him the ball but is one of the best route runners and all the measurables to stack up against any CB in the league.

Coming into the season he was on the belitnokoff list and projected high, drawing comparisons to Larry Fitzgerald, but some issues and a poor season have him dropping in the rankings pre-combine.

Would love to take a flyer on this big possession receiver on the third day of the draft if he is still available (according to the list y'all have compiled, he is undrafted.)

This is just a rough guess on the order I seeing these guys getting drafted.

Watkins

Evans

Moncrief

Lee

Matthews

Benjamin

Beckham

Robinson

Adams

Landry

Cooks

Jesus, just writing out all those names gives you an idea of how deep this draft is at the position.

Watkins is the clear cut number 1 out of the group. I think scouts and teams are going to fall in love with Moncrief after the combine but Evans will still go ahead of him due to size. Lee being the playmaker he is goes next. Matthews over Benjamin due to experience and being more polished. Beckham over Robinson because of speed and hands. Adams over Landry and Cooks because of size. Landry over Cooks because of those velcro like hands.

hands and velcro hands. i say double dip the LSU wr's and call it a day.

great year if you need wrs, i like nearly all of them at the spot most are rated.

cooks is the questionable in the first, but i'd have no issues with second(very unlikely)

wrs have the most to lose during combine/pro days, which panthers could take advanced of. any top tier wr run slow(like evans could), well they fall. recent example was allen last year. i think remember being upset at the panthers for not drafting boldin in the second, the only time i screamed at the tv "TAKE BOLDIN!!!!!!"

just good talent, lots of depth, jrs, playakers, #1s, #2s, #3s, slot, returners, UDFAs etc etc/

There are many sleepers in this draft, so I would not be too surprised to see us draft 2.

Beckham (not a sleeper) could become the first round selection if we fail in re-signing Ginn.  Good returner, good WR.

I really like McNutt---I am thinking he and King win the #3, #4 jobs.

Smitty needs to go to the slot and they need to limit him to about 65% of the snaps.

SLEEPERS:  Hoffman, Coleman, Landry could be sleepers in this draft.  Abbrederis could be a very good pro. Davis from Texas needs a second look.  Lotta talent on the board.

Overrated?  Lee (a bit), Cooks, Matthews (a little), and maybe even
