40 times are overrated. They're measured in artificial conditions. They're not on the field of play, and they're not in pads. Remember when Steve Smith was drafted, his reported 40 times was at or near 4.6. But when he was on the field (in his prime), I challenge you to find a faster man in pads.

 

I want to draft Jordan Matthews. I think he'll end up being a steal even at our first rounder. This guy set the SEC record for yards in the toughest conference against the toughest defenses in college football, and with those defenses constantly double and triple teaming him.

I have to disagree.

 

Evans is a stud. Huge down field threat and very explosive with the ball in his hands. Evans leads Watkins, Matthews, Landry, Beckham, Cooks, and Robinson with catches of 20+ yards. He also has sure hands only behind Landry with a 3.51% drops percentage.

 

The reason he had all those 20+ yard catches might be because the play breaks down and he finds himself behind the safety a lot. I just haven't seen enough of his route running ability on tape. Also the A&M's OL give him so much time get himself open. But he's very good at those 50/50 balls.

 Benjamin has the speed to stretch a defense vertically as he torched Florida and cornerback Loucheiz Purifoy to the tune of 212 yards on nine catches and three scores.

Benjamin was on fire late in the season as he dominated the competition. Benjamin is a mismatch nightmare with a ton of upside. He has to work on his hands as he drops too many passes.

I can't get into Adams, I've tried and watched and watched for something to pop out. It hasn't. To me his game compares to Josh Huff as far as being tough and possessing running back-esque skills with the ball in his hand. But Adams is better with the ball in the air, but far less explosive than Huff. I don't see how these guys are separated by 2-3 rounds.

 

I dont know about that. Huff is going to be a slot guy in the NFL. Adams reminds me a lot of "Hakeem Nicks". I see a little bit of Bey Bey Thomas in him too, but more Nicks.

The two deep balls he caught against Alabama were in front of the safety. Now you watch that film and time after time the DBs underestimated Evans speed off the line. No doubt Manziel and the Oline helped out on some plays but he did just as much to help stretch the Alabama D.

I'm not completely sold on Matthews being a #1. He is undersized compared to the current top receivers in the league. He got his high numbers in part because Vandy didn't have much else, put him in a bigger college program and the ball doesn't get thrown to him as much therefore doesn't have the stats that he does. He's probably a better #2 prediction.

If we don't get Watkins, Evans, or Lee I'm hoping we picked up a good FA WR. I fear that the rest of the pack, although talented, takes a couple of years before you start to see them dominate.

Matthews is not undersized. He's 6'3 and 205 lbs. Also, he will gain 10 lbs easily in the NFL.

 

Andre, Fitz, Gordon, Bey Bey, Jeffery, and Julio are all 6'3".

Marshall and Green: 6'4" and Dez at 6'2".

Agree with 40 times not measuring everything but Steve's unofficial 40 times was 4.37 and official at 4.41.

Unfortunately other than Hixon there aren't many franchise caliber receiver in free agency. Hopefully we find an alshon jeffrey. We need one of those jump ball types. If benjamin pans out with his height and size he'd be unstoppable. I see plaxico burress in him.
