RG3: "Boy Emperor"

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

is it throwing someone under the bus if it's actually the right person to blame?

RG3 seems to be guilty of drinking his own Kool-Aid, but the team's owner is the source of the Redskins biggest problems and has been for years.

The sooner the owner realizes he needs to remove himself from the day to day operations and hire a competent GM to manage the team, the sooner all this public drama will subside.

For the record, I doubt this will ever happen.

is it possible that Danny boy is a worse owner than Jerruh?  Wow.  Looks like the Redskins trade for RGIII was even worse than the Julio Jones trade.

it's a 1 billion times worse trade. Atlanta actually made it to the nfcc game and still have premier talent on that team (well mostly O, i think the 2 corners they picked are gonna be pretty good) just have to build their lines up.

redskins severely lack talent on that team. they just lost the SECOND PICK OF THE DRAFT. could have got Clowney or some other fuging beast and started gathering talent around RG3.

bottom line: redskins are fugED for years. Rams are going to be one of the most talented teams in the NFL (doesn't mean they will win, but they will be bengals type talented).

loving every minute of this.

Dannyboy................don't you ever change.

I'm loving the Redskins dysfunction as much as anyone.  Snyder is a twit.

The RG3 thing, not so much.

I've been a longtime RG3 doubter, but all of my doubts centered on his durability.  I didn't believe his body could take the pounding that it'd get in the NFL.  Character wise though?  Coming out of college he seemed like a great kid, and i believed he truly was.

Now?

I've asked the question before, and still don't really have an answer.  Did being in the pros and getting a boatload of money (and owner support) change him, or is this who he always was and the positive image was just a really well-crafted facade by Griffin and his handlers?

Doubt we'll ever know, but the result is the same either way.  That fresh-faced, humble nice-guy kid that we saw coming out of college two years ago is gone, and he's likely never coming back.

Shame.  I wanted to see that kid succeed.  This new guy, though?  Meh.

From what I've read Griffin was a diva while at Baylor as well...to the point where he demanded only his positive plays be shown in film review with the team.

Well it seems as if the Bob Griffin is a cancer concept is starting to gain traction since it's starting to get more and more parroted through any media outlet you can find

Funny how it took a catastrophically bad season rife with scandals and rumors for them to start character assassinating. All it took for cam was like a laptop incident and an allegedly fake smile.

Griffin's story has something that always gives these stories legs, that being the word of teammates.

On those occasions when teammates have spoken negatives about Newton, it's always been about "how he used to be but he's different now".

Complaints from Griffin's teammates are present tense.

Cam was never comparably egotistical to begin with. That was the label put on him, and is what is now referenced as something he used to be because people don't want to admit that they misjudged him in the first place.

That's not to say he didn't experience hurdles in his first two years, but he always had the right attitude overall.

I've said many times that Newton has one of those personalities that's easily misunderstood.

People like that can be very polarizing, and a quick encounter with them can leave a bad first impression.

Those who get to know them and understand them better over time get them.  Others, not so much.

Said it before and I'll say it again.  RG3 has always came off as fake as hell and an arrogant selfish kind of player to me... even back to his college days.  I never understood this whole humble golly-gee persona that the media and his recent fans have tried to craft for him.

At Baylor: "I think I just won the Heisman..." or whatever it was he said after that post-game interview then tried to justify it afterwards.  Then that whole thing about him not allowing bad plays being shown in film review at college that came out pretty much affirms he's been this way for a while.

Then there's the whole seemingly taking it as disrespect being compared to Cam like it was some kind of fuging slight being compared to the best rookie of all time.  But no, he'd rather be compared to some of the greatest QBs in today's game and greatest of all time half way through his rookie season.  He also came off as very condescending to Romo after beating the Cowboys.

His statements on Twitter... feuding with the coaches during the offseason... the entire offseason rehab saga (operation patience, all in for week one... lol).  He seemed to fully buy into his own hype and then some.

There's just been a shitload from this dude that has rubbed me the wrong way from the get go.  I think if people would've actually analyzed him instead of buying into what ESPN wanted them to believe they'd probably have seen it too.  The signs have definitely been there.

disclaimer: I'm not a hater either... there's very few athletes I dislike, and none that I dislike just for the sake of disliking.  Like I said, just always got those vibes off of him.

We need to slow down on RG3, people tried to do the same thing to Cam.

Doing some further research and digging deeper, I believe there is a hyper exaggeration on the medias part concerning RG3 and his behavior.

Yes he has done and said some idiotic things however his teammates seem to be behind him and have refuted the reports that have come out about him.

We should be the last fanbase to judge, ESPECIALLY considering what the slimy fugheads in the media tried to do to Cam.

RG3 is no where near perfect and still has much growing up to do, but it is clear someone is trying to destroy the kid

i've thought about this as well and has always been in the back of my mind when reading this stuff.

like this could all be fuging bullshit. Like the Cam pro-bowl story with Ray Lewis (and then a month later Cam is one of few players invited to his paintball charity).

I'm always skeptical of the media. But one thing that made me cringe and think maybe some of the stories are more true than not is the Romo thing. "Don't let anybody tell you that you aren't a great QB." I imagined Cam saying something like that to another qb. and lol'ed.

Cam goes all weird, shy kid when he talks to other qbs (tom brady, peyton, brees). Cam is a fan of the game and players. Rg3 is a fan of himself.
