my daycare is now on a 2 hour delay because of the cold.

Back in my day, I'd be at the bus stop...it would be a white out, and the bus driver is like, "C'MON!".

Of course I refuse, go inside...see on the news an hour later that they were sending buses back out taking people home.

Didn't have to walk up hill barefooted, because I'm not that old or determined.

What time do schools usually start where you live, Hawk?

I'm asking because when I lived in Washington, my son didn't even wake up for school until like 8:15. When we moved to NC, the late bell at his school rang at 6:40.

It seems our school days are scheduled to get as much done as possible before the heat bears down. In Washington I remember frost on the grass in May, so I assume the late starts were to get everything warmed up.

Temps supposed to get down to single digits in the morning with windchills at or below zero.

Their concern is for kids waiting for the bus before sunrise. Remember that we don't have temps like that here and most kids don't even have coats, etc for temps that cold.

Just precautionary.

Who doesn't have a coat?

GHardy took care of this.

Seriously its not that cold.

I don't recall ever going to school that early...

Elementary schools here start at like 8:00.. middle school at 8:20 and HS about that...  my son, who is a senior, only has 2 on campus classes so he goes in a 10 and gets out at 2 right now.

When I was in school (way back) the bell rang at 8:20 irrc.

we live out on an acreage, so my daughter is on the bus at 7:25, in her seat for class at 8:20....dismissal at 3:20...plus or minus 5 minutes because I don't know for sure.

Well I almost got into an altercation in the daycare parking lot.

Some dad came within a foot of hitting me...i told him to slow down. He told me to walk faster....I told him this pry wasn't the best place to drive like an asshole....he sped off.
