Carolina - San Fran Comparisons

I disagree. In the playoffs moreso than the regular season it is the players that must step up and take control.

Look how many incredible and huge plays, some unscripted, took place over the weekend that won or lost the game.

True, but also, I saw some 4 downs which coaches went for it and succeeded, hope Ron doesn't get too conservative because it's the playoffs.

I would give San Fran the TE spot, and would make the linebackers a Push.  I also think you are undervaluing Reid and Whitner, so I would probably lean towards San Fran there as well.

I feel Mitchell and Mikell have meant much more to our defense than just their solid play. They have given the team a nasty streak.

No doubt about that.  I would probably make it a push.  Whitner has been very solid this year (as has Mitchell).

Mikell has been a little suspect in coverage for me to give him a huge nod over Reid (who has also had his good and bad moments).

These teams are so closely matched it is scary

I think these teams work out to fairly equal adversaries.  I believe turnovers will define the outcome of this game.

Regular Season

Carolina 30 takeaways - 19 giveaways = +11 net

San Fran 30 takeaways - 18 giveaways = +12 net

Carolina vs San Fran

Both teams had two takeaways, Carolina should have had a 3rd on the Vernon Davis (worst review of the season) fumble.

This stat is definitely a push.  Teams that are +1 in turnovers are roughly 70% likely to win the game, while +2 jumps to over 80% and anything more is essentially a lock to win.  Looking for our aggressive D to turn this stat in our favor Sunday!
