What 49ers Fans are Saying

Which is why I put bulletin board in quotes.

The things that fans say on message boards are totally irrelevant to the game.

Right, but having Ric Flair give your pregame speech because you know you'll be heading to Carolina if you win is not. It's something our guys can use as a sign of disrespect and we have several guys who are good at converting that into positive energy.

Personally I think that stuff is overblown.

It's like when guys guarantee victory.  Half the time they're right, and half the time they're wrong.

It's not like the Panthers were only going to give 90% effort, but now they're going to give 100%.

I'm expecting a great game.  There are no cakewalks in the playoffs.

Being from California, majority of my friends, family and in-laws are 49ers fans. I know about the homers and delusionals on the 49ers message boards touting dominance this sunday but this time around, the ones that I have spoken to in person have actually been respectful towards the Panthers.

The main reason they believe they can win this time around is due to "revenge" and and having a healthy Crabtree and Davis in the lineup. I counter that Hardy had 0 of the 6 sacks and he is coming off 7 in 2 games.

Two similar teams will be facing off this weekend. The difference is most 49ers fans ate a lot of crow week 10 and know to keep quiet this time around.

Yall can continue to downplay the packers all you want but with Aaron Rodgers, I don't care how good you're team is, he gives them a real chance to win against any team in the league.

I agree with this.

The thing is, your offense could barely move the ball on the Packers.  Doesn't bode well.  But I expect Roman and Harbaugh will come up with some stuff.

I completely expect you to score more points than last game. Thing is? We probably will, too.  We're at home.  Our offense plays tons better at home - averaging almost 3 more points at home and giving up fewer, too.  I can't imagine your team if Kap takes the next step, but I don't think he does vs this defense.  At home, our defense steps up a level.  We held Brees to 13 points.  Brady to 20.  Wilson to 13.  Ryan to 10.

It'll be a good game.  It'll be close.  But Cam will decide it, and I like him against any defense in the league, even yours.

At face value it is overblown, but you have guys like Smitty who are looking for any perceived slight to get juiced up over and this fits the bill.

Bottom line, the team that plays better will win on Sunday - but why give your opponent anything they can use for extra motivation?

Before you dismiss this, consider that most good coaches follow this practice - it's why they make a point of being so complimentary of an opponent leading up to a game. They might have zero respect for the opponent, but they're not going to show it because they don't want to give them any extra juice and they don't want their own players to take anything for granted.

Going to be a miserable media sports radio talk here in the Bay Area. Everyone says the same thing. Crabtree and Davis. Crabtree and Davis, blah blah blah.

They play like they did against Green Bay, I don't care about the weather, they won't win in Carolina.

Aren't you in Livermore? Where you watching the game?

Hey guys, i come in peace.  First time posting on this board, obviously.

First off I hope this next game is a damn good one with no injuries.

I keep reading on here that we didn't move tha ball against a crappy defense.  We had 381 yards of offense and averaged 6 yards per play.  We were 6-12 on 3rd down conversions, and this was all in frigid sub zero wind chills.  its harder than hell to play in that enviroment, on the road, in the playoffs, in that temp.  Excusses no, but legit facts.  If you look at the past two games the 49ers played against Green Bay, they had over 1,000 yards of offense, and 79 points scored.  We can move the ball on them.  I just don't think some of you are taking that weather seriously.  Probably because I am guessing most of you have never seen anything like that.  I live in north west Ohio, and we just got 12" of snow on top of the 12" we got a few days back, with 40+ mph winds, and and -40+ wind chill.  I just spent 2 hours shoveling my driveway and my eyelashes, beard, mustache all covered in Ice.  Frooze my ass off.

Now, put that against what green bay did.  They have the better offense remind you.  They had 281 yards for 4.6 yards per play, and 2-11 on third downs.

So the worse offense had 100 more yards, had almost 1.5 more yards per play, and complete a way better 3rd down percentage on the road in weather they aren't use to, and yet we couldn't move the ball.

Carolina is legit.  No doubt about it.  They wouldn't be in the playoffs if they weren't.  They have a damn good defense and Cam extends plays, and you have a very good set of RBs.  This should be a great game.  Could go either way.

Like I said ealier, good luck this week, and lets hope for no injuries.

You are kinda forgetting gb still has to play your good defense. Things are equal. The fact of the matter is Kap is not good in the red zone. You know, where you are close to getting touchdowns? It's going to be a very close game. But if we double crab and have Davis on Davis and stop gore like we did last time we will win this game. Kaep can't read defenses and will be on the ground a lot or make poor throws like he did against greenbay. They dropped a pick that would have won them the game. Kaep will make more dumb throws like that Sunday especially since it's a 10am game for him

As far as I know; only the media are making those claims. I guess you can say we are the hottest team in the NFL because of our winning streak leading up and into the playoffs...but that doesn't really mean anything. Just something for the media to talk about.

Kap being the best young QB in the playoffs is the same thing. His stats were not mind blowing but he made great, clutch throws and runs when we needed them the most.

Agree with this, however, these chances go down exponentially when he's laying on his back after being planted in the sod.  Say hello to The Kraken...

No I am not forgetting our defense is better, becaue it clearly is.

As far as sucking in the redzone, Carolina scores a TD on 55.56% of their redzone possesions.  The 49ers are 54.24%.  Carolona is ranked 12th while san Fran is 14th.  Pretty much the same.  And Kaep has 15 TD passes and 2 INT in the redzone this year, while Cam has 17 TDs and 3 INT.  Preety damn even.

You can double Crabs, we still have Boldin and you can't single Davis with a LBer, he will win everytime.  So you double Crabs, and single Davis.  I am guessing you single Boldin, which would be a mismatch as well, then you have Gore and kaep's running as well.  I don't think you understand what Crabs being back has done for this offense.

My house, lol.

Told all my Niner friends, they could come over. Their team has to travel to get their ass kicked. They have to come travel to my house as well.

You?

My house as well. Got my dad and a few other 49ers fans coming over to watch. I live off of Portola.

I will bottle their tears when the 49ers lose and add them to the secret sauce when I'm BBQing burgers during the Panthers SB appearance. That's how I roll.

I'm over in Springtown area.

We should meet downtown after and just laugh at Niner fans. I know a bunch of Raider fans who will join in.

Why do I know more Raider fans than Niners? Cuz I live in the East Fuggin Bay, land of all NON-SF teams.
