One glaring Kapernick flaw

CRA

Recommended Posts

Kyle Williams had 12 catches (and probably that number of drops), and got cut.

Last year we had:

Crabtree

Davis

Manningham

Randy Moss

Delanie Walker

Most of this year we had:

Boldin

Davis

Kyle Williams (12 catches, then cut)

Jon Baldwin (Chiefs castoff who could barely get on the field)

Marlon Moore (career special teamer)

Kasim Osgood (career special teamer)

Vance McDonald (rookie TE with bad hands)

Manningham missed half the season, then got put on IR because he was never healthy.  And our promising rookie WR Quinton Patton missed most of the season and training camp due to injuries.

Our WR corps was a mess for most of the season.  Things have finally started to stabilize with Crabs and Patton healthy.

The bottom line is Kap still has a lot of learning to do, but he's a better passer than he's given credit for.

Tim Hasselback just pointed out that Kyle Williams, who is not even on the team, and BARELY in the league was the second WR option for the 49ers for much of the year.

I understand how most on here don't get how BAD he is because we are Panthers fans and many don't even watch other teams, but take if from most NFL guys, Williams doesn't even deserve to be on a roster. Even as the 9th string.

And the rest of what you said is what I have been saying too. The 49ers WR core was COMPLETELY different from the group that played in the SB. Completely different.

im not the one arguing with you. but we literally just had a 2 page discussion about how stats mean nothing when taken out of context, then the first thing you do is ask for a stat that shows who's better at reading defenses? Thats not even possible. Look, you have panther fans saying "kap sucks because.....(random number)" and you have dumb 49er fans saying "kap is great because....(random number)". There's no "number" that proves OR disproves your point. So im not sure what your agenda actually is

You are correct. Stats mean nothing when taken out of context.

Now tell me how I am taking stats out of context? I am comparing the QBR for Kaepernick, Newton, Luck, Wilson, Tannehill, etc. over the course of an entire season. Everyone gets a sample size of 16 games. A lot of these guys over the course of the year lost their number one targets, had line issues, etc.

What is out of context?

When people are saying P. Manning was the best passer this season are they taking stats out of context? When people are saying that E. Manning or G. Smith was one worst passers are they taking stats out of context.

There are no stats in the world that are needed to show that P Manning is one of, if not THE, greatest QB in recent history. Had Tannehill thrown for more TDs then Peyton, would you imply that Tannehill is better? Not even in the realm of possibility. I can't control what random retards that host SportsCenter say, I (and other knowledgable football fans) aren't saying those things. Peyton is not better BECAUSE he threw 55 TDs. He's better because you watch him play, watch him adjust and watch him dissect a defense and within 4 minutes, you know he's a king out there.

Cam and Russ Wilson play in a completely different offensive scheme then Kap does. Yes all are on run heavy teams, but the actual design is worlds apart. If Cam had a QBR of 88 and Kap was at 31, then yes, it's clear Cam is superior to the others. But when they are relatively close, they can't just be thrown together and compared with a logical conclusion of "This guy is better". Way to many variables

He is one reader and run qb. I wonder if he could ever develop into a legit pocket passer like Cam

Lord if we had vernon davis and anquan boldin we would be postmarked for the Superbowl

lol. I promise you most NFL message boards do not think Cam Newton is a "legit pocket passer." In fact here is how one 49er has it:

So the young QBs now stack up, in some order of significance:

1) Kaepernick

2) Luck

3) Wilson

4) Newton

5) RGIII

Once again, I agree. Cam Newton is a legit pocket passer. However, so his Kaepernick.

And, Colin got his team to the superbowl (almost won) and just one another road playoff game...so I am not sure why you seem to be indicating that the 49ers are underachieving under Colin. I don't think they will get there this year because Carolina will end their run, but putting Newton on 49ers does not make the 49ers THAT much better.

I swear we all had this argument last year, when Cam was sucking.

It is almost asinine to put Kaep ahead of Luck, Wilson and Cam

Look, the only argument for QBR being out of context as it relates to Kap vs. Newton is that Kap plays with a better line. So you could argue that Kap's numbers are better because of it. However, I would just respond that Kap plays in the NFC West, therefore that negates any advantage Kap has over Newton.

You can't argue that the 49er have a better defense...

You can't argue play calling...Roman is more hated that Shula is here

You can't argue experiences...

You can't argue that Kap is in a more QB friendly system...

You can't argue that Newton was hurt and missed sometime...

You can try to argue WR/TE talent but once again-- within context-- the advantage is negligible.

There is no noticeable advantage that Kap has over Newton. Therefore, I fail to see how QBR is taken out of context. And I fail to see how Newton (or any of the other young QBs) are way better passers than Kaepernick.

Cam did not suck last year.

So that's moot.

Um...Lol. Yeah, i'm pretty sure, it was just lot of threads on here about Cam, how he doesn't read, how he wouldn't turn into a pocket passer. Some threads saying to trade him.

Was a few threads in '12 comparing to Kaep. Ya, i'm pretty sure.

If you would have visited the Redskins board at this time last year, the EXACT same thing Panthers fans are saying about Kap is the EXACT same thing Redskins fans were saying about Newton.

Now the Panthers fans are saying it about RGIII.

Its quite amusing.
