I really hope no one associated with the Panthers or their family members visited the Huddle today.

KP, I've been viewing this forum since before the server crash, and I always thought you were a decent poster, but you've devolped this new attitude that has really brought down the quality of your posts.

Just thought I'd let you know.

I feel the same way...He went downhill

Ive pointed it out before, but our whole fanbase is diluted because hardly anyone is from NC originally anymore.  Most come from elsewhere with teams of their own already.  Eventually we'll win them over, but for now the best that happens is they hop on board when their boys fail out and ours are at the top of their game.  Add to that the fact that this is the internet and you can say about anything without anyone knowing who you are, and yeah, not surprised people are negative as poo.

I just think it's a waste of time to police posters. This thread changes nothing. Negative posters are still negative.

Generally, I agree. I'm not one to chastise others over their opinions with few exceptions.

But reading the Huddle today just blew me away. The negativity and fear displayed by more than a few, including the guy who runs things around here, was a shock.

The playoffs aren't for the weak of heart. All these teams are good, all are dangerous. Including us. What does it gain at this point to openly lament that maybe we aren't good enough? Should we happen to lose, we'll have the whole offseason to analyze, point fingers, and display perfect hindsight.

I guess I just don't get it.

TRAP GAME!!!

Yep..  along the lines of..

Texans just have such a great defense... Andre Johnson and Foster...  Their offense is better than ours..

and their defense..  oh my god.        No way we can win that game and if we do, It'll be a miracle.  I'm not being a hater, I'm just being real.

Somebody explain to me how having confidence and being realistic have to be two separate things?   I get so irritated at guys who have all the confidence in the world but aren't realistic at all.  In fact, its about as annoying as the people who think we have no shot.

I try to fall right in the middle.  I know that we are a good football team and I know we can beat the 49ers, hell we already did in their house BUT that doesn't mean I can just sit back and get ready for the NFC Championship.  All those things mentioned in the OP are true.  Crabtree is playing and Davis was out very early in the game (Btw they were moving the ball pretty well before he got hurt), their offense is playing better and their defense shut us down in the first game, and they have won like 7 in a row now and just beat Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay.  Give them a little credit.

We will have to play our best game of the season if we hope to move forward, we need to click on all cylinders because frankly, the performance against Atlanta won't get it done.  I'm sorry, but thats the truth.  IF you can't accept that then you are the one living in some fantasy world.  Being a fan doesn't mean blindly rooting for your team while thinking they can do anything without even breaking a sweat.  Some people feel that in order to be a fan, a true fan, that you have to feel that way and its sad.

I don't wanna be like Pittsburgh or Green Bay and certainly not like New England fans who think they are entitled to things.  I want to be the kind of fan base that supports their team and cheers for them, loudly and passionately, no matter what.  The kind of fan base that understands what these guys go through and how much work they put in, the kind that will line the streets as the buses leave for the airport and cheer them on when they return, win or lose.  But most importantly I want to be the fan base that is realistic and understands that the margin for error is small in this league and that things don't always work out for the best.  It's gonna be tough, it's gonna be a fight, they are going to give us their best shot.  And I hope we can play well enough to send them home for good.

That's all we can do as fans, hope for the best, but it seems like you are only satisfied if everyone just simply expects it.  That's what set our fan base back so far after the Arizona loss and we have to be better than that, we have to evolve and understand what's at stake and what it takes to win.

I'm sure you're a great fan and I'm so glad that you support the Panthers, but just because people have doubts or know that this is a tough game ahead and theres a very good possibility that we lose doesn't make them any less passionate or worse than you.

the only reason i can come up with is our history. and this being the first playoff game since 08' when we got absolutely destroyed both physically and mentally.

this fanbase has been through a lot of poo.

but looking at this team i'm very confident and think we can beat anybody. although we may lose next sunday, i know this team, franchise and organization is headed in the right direction.
