Shula in the Playoffs

10th? No way. That site calls those stats Offensive Efficiency Ratings. On actual stats they were 11th in rushing offense but 29th in passing.

I know what they call them and regardless of the semantics, they rank the overall offense as the 10th highest (or 11th highest adjusted) which is way higher than 26th.

We don't really have the offensive talent to be much else IMO...

What I do hope and hopefully it will happen...is regardless of 89s status Cam

Newton will run. He is far and away the best aspect of our ground attack and we can't have him being a spectator of a weak rush game

we'd solve this issue by just making Tolbert our starting running back. i'd sacrifice the potential explosiveness of Dwill for the consistent, hard-nosed production of Tolbert any day.

Zod, you are not stupid, you know that 26th ranking isn't an accurate picture at all. We're closer to the #2 rank in scoring than the #2 team is to #1.

We also rank highly in points per drive and point differential. That's all that matters and you know it, I don't get why you make this about Shula when it is obvious the team as a whole has struggled a bit lately and yet we still won. Outside of using Tolbert a bit more there's been few issues with the playcalling. If Cam just gets his passes down we'd be in great shape.

You tend to ignore things when clouded by your own personal bias.  This works in both directions.  However Zod made his Shula hate know before we ever snapped the ball.  We would have to score like the Broncos to change his opinion.

Play calling is overrated. We need our receivers to catch the ball, our QB to throw the ball, our running backs to run the ball, and our lineman to block. Our offense is at it's best when our players play well. Our play calling is less important to me. 3rd and 7 run plays look great when the running back finds a whole, evades the LB and makes the distance.

our offense is best when they do their frikken jobs and actually play football. there is blame on everyone. including the coaching staff.

I am not sure of historical trends...but it makes sense that average points per game would go down once in the playoffs due to the level of talent teams are competing against.  Then again...the Colts/Chiefs game yesterday blows that theory out of the water.

Yea but you can't keep putting yourself in that type of position. With the way the defense plays, we should be up a lot more than we are.

I don't necessarily disagree and I am not really a fan of shula, but I will point out that with the exception of the last game against Atlanta, our close wins have been coming against pretty good defensive teams.  New England, New Orleans, Miami and SF are all top 10 defenses.  And the Jets defense would be if their offense didn't have so many interceptions.

Sometimes, you do have to give credit to the other team.  Looking back at our season, we played 7 of our 16 games against the top 10 defenses in the league.  That does have something to do with our relatively poor offensive numbers.

Other than the packers every other team left in the NFC is a top 5 defense. That's the concern

Sadly, I am hoping for it....but don't trust Shula to do that.

Cam will just have to call his own. Cam has already commented before it is tough for him to find runs bc of Shula offense. Not geared to present a lot of them

if this is true then Shula needs to be fired as soon as the Panthers postseason is over. if Shula's offense doesnt present opportunity for our franchise QB to be the playmaker that he is, then a change is not just in order, it is absolutely necessary.

Umm, Cam himself said he didn't need to be running.

The defense is not the only reason and while I like statistics, one can't look just at stats to determine success or failure.  One thing our offense has done is play well in crunch time.  It did not play well in crunch time in a lot of games over the last two season.  That is a big reason why we are winning instead of losing those close games.  Two key crunch time drives (New England and New Orleans) come to mind.  Sometimes when you score is just as important as how much you score.

i'd still rather score more often. im good with the long grinding drives. but we need to do it every time we get the ball. these 3 and outs and stalling drives are killers to our type of offense, espcially off turnovers and in the red-zone.
