Shula in the Playoffs

I don't have an issue with the style of offense, but I will say this...If this tard does not go back to even attempting to utilize Mike Tolbert at some point again really soon, I am gonna flip my poo.  Deangelo needs huge holes while Tolbert is good for your 3-4 yards a carry with an occasional burst, and that is EXACTLY what we've been missing the last few games.

That might be a good rant if ir had anything to do with reality.

Tolbert has been a mainstay on offense when healthy. He has been dinged up the past few games. Truth is our running backs have all had injury issues. They play but not at 100 percent.

Tolbert had 12 carries for 18 yards against the Jets. He had 1 carry for 1 yard against New Orleans. He had 7 carries for 29 yards against Atlanta.

10th? No way. That site calls those stats Offensive Efficiency Ratings. On actual stats they were 11th in rushing offense but 29th in passing.

Efficiency and how good you are doing something > doing something less efficiently but more often

NFL O rankings and D rankings are heavily influenced by number of drives.

No one stat ever tells the truth

We have more talent than that Tampa Bay offense. The rules are also different.

This is true, but we had the same players and same rules all year.  It is not a question of if our offense will be better that those Bucs teams, it is the fact that Shula's offenses performed worse in the postseason than they did in the regular season that concerns me.

Shula's Tampa teams never lost there first game

And in his losses his QBs turned it over a lot.....which kills what Shula and that D were trying to do

All this talk about comparing Shula's offense this year to Tampa's offense in the 90's ignores one key point.  That point being that he is under a different head coach.  Ultimately the offense is the responsibility of the head coach.  If Rivera doesn't like the plays being called, he can and should override the OC.

That's because the defense drastically improved. If we're going to become a consistent winner. The offense can't rank in the bottom of the nfl.

The defense is not the only reason and while I like statistics, one can't look just at stats to determine success or failure.  One thing our offense has done is play well in crunch time.  It did not play well in crunch time in a lot of games over the last two season.  That is a big reason why we are winning instead of losing those close games.  Two key crunch time drives (New England and New Orleans) come to mind.  Sometimes when you score is just as important as how much you score.

The offense blew that Rams game. Twice inside the ten and settled for two FG, and also gave up a safety along the way. The defense held one of the greatest offenses in history to one TD and one FG and they still lost.

A QB who turns it over kills gameplans

Yea but you can't keep putting yourself in that type of position. With the way the defense plays, we should be up a lot more than we are.

You have to remember that Zod HATES Shula and has waited to see him fail all season.

This.  Zod started the season with Shula hate.  Had to throttle down but basically has been waiting for this.  Even though we only score 1.7 less points then last year with Chudzinski.  Even though our TOP and offensive efficiency is entirely better than last year. A lot less turnovers.  etc..etc..
