Shula in the Playoffs

I didn't realize it isn't the goal of the offense to gain yards or score points.

I'll look k this thread now. My bad, my bad.

Obviously scoring points and gaining yards is the goal but within a context. This is a team sport not just an offensive battle.  It isn't how many points you score but how it relates to how many points the other teams scores.  Kansas City could have easily won if they had controlled the clock and keep Luck off the field in the second half.  Sure another 20 points would have won it too but lets be real here, 40 points should win any game. KC couldn't sustain drives and their defense was awful.

Teams with good offenses like the KC and Philly lost due to lack of defense not a bunch of offense.

I don't have an issue with the style of offense, but I will say this...If this tard does not go back to even attempting to utilize Mike Tolbert at some point again really soon, I am gonna flip my poo.  Deangelo needs huge holes while Tolbert is good for your 3-4 yards a carry with an occasional burst, and that is EXACTLY what we've been missing the last few games.

im curious how much if at all playoff scoring goes down for most teams. the record for teams losing the turnover battle in playoff games is so glaring that I wouldn't be surprised if most teams experience the same slow down you're suggesting we brace for.

This is the playoffs kids, regardless of who we play it will be a war.

However the cuffs are coming off Cam

Sadly, I am hoping for it....but don't trust Shula to do that.

Cam will just have to call his own. Cam has already commented before it is tough for him to find runs bc of Shula offense. Not geared to present a lot of them

Yes, you can win with the 26th ranked offense if you have a stout defense. We should be happy about that.

But don't pretend that Shula put together a good offense this season. Without Cam's legs it would have ranked dead last in the league. That guy bailed us out countless times.

According to Footballoutsiders.com, they ranked 10th - not 26th and given the lack of talented receivers put with Cam's tendency to overthrow them, I think that is pretty remarkable.

i don't think Shula's the best thing since sliced bread but you have to give him credit for getting the most out of what he's had to work with.

More than just running throwing as well.

Cam has a knack for throwing best when he is unconscious (no thought just slinging the pigskin)

He is a big game qb, He will play as such

I'm tired of all the second-guessing with this offense. We have a good enough offense to win if Cam plays well and the OL holds up. I don't get into all that ranking stuff in the playoffs because the postseason is often a season onto itself and the team(s) that show up to play are the ones who win.

You have to remember that Zod HATES Shula and has waited to see him fail all season.

10th? No way. That site calls those stats Offensive Efficiency Ratings. On actual stats they were 11th in rushing offense but 29th in passing.

But we are at the top for Time of Posession, Scoring Efficiency, etc.

Fact is that you can find stats to prove either side of the arguement.

Stevie Wonder can even see teams with the better offenses do better. We already know the stat that no team ranked 24th or higher in offense has NEVER EVER won the Super Bowl.

But 2 seasons does not a trend make.

We start the new trend of going back to early 80's smash mouth, ball control, stout defense winning the big games.
