Yayy anton shuts down everyone in OT and the shoot out and the Canes win their last game of the season.

Anton now holds the Canes franchise record for best save percentage in a season with 92.6%

We do have enough talent on the team to be a playoff team. We just screwed it all up by starting Ward too many times. Karmanos however did say we didn't have a good season cause of Ward's injury so yea he's still an idiot.

 

Our talent relative to other playoff teams is quite poor. The money has been mismanaged much like how Marty managed the panthers. 

 

The core of our team - Semin and Skinner and I guess Eric Staal

 

Overpaid for Jordan Staal for 6 mil for 10 yrs

Overpaid for Ruutu at 5 mil for 3 yrs -he is gone now

Overpaid Faulk...

Our drafts have sucked. We got Skinner and Lindholm but no one else has managed to make it. 

 

Honestly if you compare our team to others I am not liking our future. We have no defense either.

Yo that Karmanos interview was the most awkward thing.  You could tell John wanted to just punch him in his face for basically saying we sucked because of Peters.  It's pretty clear he thinks the fanbase is stupid.

 

We failed because of a lot of things.  Ward's been mentioned but we cant just blame him.  Almost the entire team performed laughably.  Eric was an abomination and should have been called out by his GM but since he's a good canadian farm boy and not some ruski that doesnt happen.  Tlusty turned out to be a flash in the pan.  Faulk took a step back in his development (happens to a lot of dmen in their sophomore season.  Still think he's gonna be a great #2 guy.).  And holy poo our bottom six had to be the worst in the league and it wasn't even close.

 

But theres bright spots.  Skinner is still the scorer we thought he was even after all those concussion problems.  Dobby is gonna get more starts.  Eric cant play any worse.  Our defense was actually middle of the pack which is a huge step above god awful like the season before.  Guys like Faulk, Lindholm, Murphy, and Bellemore are gonna continue to develop.

 

And unless you wanna judge drafts on how many 19 year olds are playing on the team right now, our drafts have been pretty decent.  You can find two or three players that are playing well in their respective leagues right now in every one going back to 2010 which is on par with the rest of the league.

Now that Jr is out as GM and most of the staff is gone, likely to see Ward traded right before or during the draft. Just a hunch, I don't expect the Staals or Semin to be moved though.
