Is there a master list of Panthers-friendly bars around the country?

It's the camaraderie. The DC and Denver guys get tons of people to show up and they get the sound of the game on. Basically what all the Charlotte bars do for the Steelers, Pats, and Cowboys.

And that irks me to no end.  But all of those teams have something we don't:  tradition and winning.  Fact is, we are a young franchise relatively speaking, and we have not established a winning reputation.  Everyone hates bandwagoners, but it's the bandwagoners that pop up in random areas.  I have given up on trying to hang out with Panthers fans in other states.  Most don't even know players' names.  I guess my hoping to hang at a bar with a fellow fan has been diminished; instead, I just look forward to watching the game.

Man, I'm being super pessimistic today.  I need to cheer up.

Where are you located?

Check out the DC Panthers site. They worked hard to get their club to where it is. All it takes is one motivated person to put it together and get the word out. It's not easy but if you're persistent and motivated you will eventually find the people. And watching it with a crew outside of CLT is awesome.

I'll second the DC Panthers group. A few years ago it was meeting in a small basement under a Saints bar, and now is in....a basement, but a really big one and 50-100 people show up on game days. Keith has done an amazing job. The waitresses even wear Panthers jerseys now, and there are framed Panthers swag on the walls. And they pump in "Sweet Caroline" when we win.

I grew up in Charlotte and went to UNCW, but since graduating I've lived in New Mexico, Boston and now Denver. It's not exactly hard to find places to watch the Panthers. Either get there early and request it or go to a larger establishment that has on every game. That said, you're often the only dude in a Carolina jersey, and nearly every Sunday someone makes the "I didn't know you guys had fans!" joke.

The Mile High Cats are awesome. I was at a bar one Saturday night a couple years ago and one of the founders, just making drunk small talk, asked what I thought of The Golden Calf of Bristol. I replied I'm more of a Cam Newton fan and it was one of those "holy poo!" moments. He said he was starting a Panthers fan club and invited me to Shelby's the next morning. Back then it was 5-10 guys drowning their sorrows and cracking self-deprecating jokes. This season, it's this:

My favorite moment was when some of the guys made a Cam Newton face cake and delivered it to the local Saints bar. I still watch my fair share of Panthers games at other establishments, but it's always cool to go to Shelby's and chat with people about where in the Carolinas they're from, how they ended up in Denver, what kind of contract Greg Hardy should get, etc.

Because I'd ask about San Diego, but figured we may have a master list already generated.

Think Zod would be open to making a static page for someone to maintain?

this is a great idear. can you modify the OP to compile the locations people mention in a nice list by state? that would be the tits!

Good post.  Now it's time for you to move somewhere else and start a new club.

What is the concern?  Watching the game?  Panthers camaraderie?  You can get the former by going to any ol' mega sports bar.  You can probably only find the latter in North Carolina.

camaraderie is one thing.

being able to WATCH the game -- true, that can be done in almost any bar.  Being able to HEAR the game, that's something else.  I've spent way too much money at sports bars, shuttled off into a corner of the room to watch the Panthers while they pipe in The Game They Want To Watch over the bar audio.

Would rather find a bar that I can not only watch the game, but hear the game -- and hopefully cheer on with other like-minded Panthers fans along the way as well, no matter where I may wander during a game week.

I don't understand the question

Is there supposed to be a bar somewhere where all you have to do to make people like you is buy gear from a certain team's fan-site?

It's Panther-Friendly wherever a Panther fan is.  Making friends has much more to do about you than what color jersey you wear.

If you are scared you can get in a grown-ups pocket

I lived in az for 3 years and full fledged panthers bar are hard to come by outside of nc....the games start at 10am out there for 1pm games on the east coast so i found a local bar and just started showing up at 930am every sunday when they didnt even open till 10....after a few sundays and a few very generous tips the bartenders and managers began to love me,  and i became a regular they let me in at 915 so i could watch pregame,  they put the sound on for me and stuck up for me when aholes would talk crap about the sound being on the panthers game, and one very attractive bartender started wearing a smitty jersey....thats all it really takes is a little effort, not being a cheap ass and actually tipping, and consistency
