I would be fine with it.  We have two overpaid rbs, and getting their contracts off the books is absolutely critical to resigning our core.  Why keep paying Stewart, and DLO when in essence you can get a young rb in his physical prime at the rookie pay scale. We started this process last year with Barner. I would be pretty intrigued even if they decided to trade up and land Todd Gurley then go WR in the 2nd. More realistically though don't be surprised if we go with a bruiser back between 2nd to 4rth rounds.  My vote.....Mike Davis. (I'm a Gamecock homer though)   

This would be especially awesome if Gross decided to play one more year.  Round 1 WR Round 2 RB Round 3 OG Round 4 CB Round 5  OL Round 6  S  Round 7 best available.

The only problem with your sceniro and WalterFootBall's is that we are presently stuck with Stewart's and Williams big contracts. and it looks like we have to keep both of them at the present time.

Until we can somehow (the big question) get rid of said contracts, it would be foolish to tie up even more money at RB using a high draft choice when we are good to go there and need WR,OL and DB help.

Stewart is both untradeable and uncuttable thanks to his contract. We are going to be tying up a ton of cap room on Stewart next year whether he's here or not (and actually more if he is not) so the idea of spending even more high picks and/or money on a RB makes no sense to anyone looking at the whole picture. Deangelo is much more iffy, however, so it wouldn't shock me to see a RB taken somewhere in the draft only if it happened in the first 3-4 rounds.

I actually think this makes sense, our running game has been poor this year and it can't all be blamed on the offensive line we need to start thinking about obtaining a RB for the future sooner rather than later.

Drafting RBs isn't tying up money. THAT is what we should of been doing.

Instead we extended not one but two.....and we are now paying the price.

Another late round RB could be realistic this year.

no matter how many people say something to walter in his comments about taking a RB in the 2nd for the panthers, he has not changed his thinking for the last 2 months. i honestly dont think he does his research on all 32 teams.
