Texans open to trading #1 pick

Just my personal opinion.

Bridgewater is the best suited to step into the NFL now, but does not have the physical attributes to progress into a big time NFL QB

Manziel is at best a bottom of the first round guy to me.  Small frame, temperment, etc. will make him drive war rooms crazy trying to land on his worth.

Bortles is a bigger frame, has the ability to run if needed, good arm and high ceiling, will need to ride the pine for a year.

Carr might have talent, but his older brothers struggles will stick to him. I figure on him being a mid first rounder if he performs well at combine.

QB's get pushed up the board, but these are the only first rounders I see.

Bridgewater and Bortles are safer in my opinion with Bortles having the higher ceiling and Bridgewater the higher floor

The Texans are one QB away from reclaiming their division. They wouldn't risk that taking Manziel just because he's from Texas. Owners and management don't care about state of origin. Just more money, playoffs money.

True/good points.

However, it didn't stop Josh McDaniel, when he was at Denver, lobbying for The Golden Calf of Bristol pick in the first round due to familiarity. SMH

True but not 1st overall pick. Was he like 23 overall or something, I can't remember. Those range of picks are normally hit or miss anyway. I can see a GM taking a gamble on them for more personal reason rather than football.

That's what I said "first round".

Picking The Golden Calf of Bristol in the first round ANYWHERE was a HORRIBLE pick.

Contrary to popular myth, they're a lot of successful lower first round and lower rd picks (2nd, 3rd, 4th etc.) in the NFL. Happens all the time.

The Golden Calf of Bristol, should have been a 6th, 7th  rd pick, or never drafted in the first place.

I think they thought they'd be able to teach him how to throw and with his running ability he'd be unstoppable. GMs won't make that mistake again. Now priority #1 for all potential QBs is throwing ability. What kills me is how excited Manziel's fans gets every time he completes a pass as if it's not the norm in the NFL.

    • Hope Koch recovers (he’s stated numerous times he doesn’t like to be called “koochie”) soon. But he does not instill confidence in the crease. I don’t have any confidence in any of our goalies, healthy or not. Andersen when available gives us the best chance to win but he’s never available.    Team has to explore trade options soon.
    • Respectfully, I completely disagree. Last year we were:  32nd in Sacks. 32nd in Turnovers.  32nd in Rushing TDs allowed  29th in Scoring.  We were absolutely atrocious on defense last year and that was with a full stable of weapons in Derek Brown, Frankie Luvu and Brian Burns that played all 17 games.  Using yards per game as a metric to guage our success lacks the context that because our offense was so inept teams were not driving the length of the field, they were starting at their 40-50 yard line.  This year, our Defense ranks:  31st in Sacks. Tied for 19th in Turnovers  31st in Rushing TDs allowed 32nd in Scoring  His defense fails to get pressure, fails to turn the ball over and fails to stop the run. Three things you absolutely have to do to be successful in the NFL.  Denver meanwhile has not missed a beat without him.  If another team wants to hire him as a HC and the Panthers get two 3rds for it I'll wish him the best and pack his bags myself.
